Especially this coming summer Ellen! With all the rain we've gotten there is going to be some serious dry brush out there. I'm scared more than I have been in the past. This is going to be a heck of a year for SoCal.

With the rain we've had so far (in the San Diego area), there's a lot of new growth in the burn areas. This is even faster than after the '03 fires. Yet even after having as much rain as we've had in the past few months, tI was a bit surprised during the last few days that, along with the nice weather, the offshore flow still blew a lot of ash in the air.

The flowers, I bet, are going to be awesome in the Anza-Borrego Desert this spring.

But I share your concern about all the new fuel that's going to be available when the post-summer Santa Anas hit.

    .
I'll be there to inspect them in 12 day--I can't wait!

I also am concerned about people throwing out cigarette butts--especially out the car window. When it got so dry last summer, you could see big black areas all over the place where the dry grass in the median and sides of the road had caught fire, but they still kept throwing them out. Even when over a million acres of S. georgia had burned. When will people think? (I refuse to say 'learn' because they just have to know better already!)

They're certainly easier to catch and nobody calls 911 when they go missing, but they tend to be a little tough and gamy for my taste. I guess a day in the slow cooker would solve that problem

Shallots, garlic, and a nice Bordeaux reduction does wonders, too.

Kids ARE easier to catch, but some B B Q sauce does wonders for gamy taste.

But how long does it take to stuff a kid in a slow cooker, or do you have that new FAMILY SIZE one?
