As usual, I am just catching up on these posts. I loved all of the stories about grits though. There is a company here called G.R.I.T.S.It stands for Girls Raised In The South. When my nephew was a baby, he had a little shirt that said "Son of a G.R.I.T.S"
I love cheese grits and shrimp with grits. My (imported from California) better half thinks that grits taste like "glue mixed with sand" so we don't eat them often at home.![]()

I have a GRITS shirt. I think I might even know where it is.Originally Posted by doxie;2697035;
They also have them for Grandma's Raised in The South.
I just saw some hilarious shirts:
"I'm fixin' too"
"Hissy Fit"
"I reckon'"
"bless your heart" and a bunch of other Southern Phrases. They were a scream.
I need the one that says: "I'm fixin' too" as I say that all the time and I get ragged about it by everyone.

Ha! My son came home from work the other night in a rotten mood. He said he's starting to hate work. Which is really surprising, as up until now, he's enjoyed it. (He's a busboy in a small, local restaurant.) When I asked him why, he said "Because Tony put on Christmas music!" Sure enough, when I went to pick him up the next night, Christmas music was playing all throughout the restaurant. I enjoyed it!Originally Posted by Unklescott;2696884;

My Mom was famous for saying "If you don't stop crying I'll give you something to cry about." Meaning look out for the switch cause I was about to get it.Originally Posted by myrosiedog;2697281;
Oh, yeah, if I had a dollar for everytime I heard that one....Originally Posted by razorbacker;2697344;
Or "shut up and tell me what's wrong". WHAT??? And god forbid you make a smart remark about anything she said like that one.

My mother's greatest curse was "I hope you have ten kids just like you!" Of course in my case, it was considered a blessing![]()

I used to hear that too and the curse backfired because my mom is no longer with us so she can't be here to enjoy the fruits of her curse!Originally Posted by Newfherder;2697369;
(not that I'm happy she's no longer around, but I don't have to hear her say "I told you so" either.) And even though she is not here, I am fully aware that her curse is working.
