I thought the same thing about school being in session this week! Our last day of school this spring was June 5th, and our kids go back on Sept 3rd.

We have a "school must start after Labor Day" rule in MN. Although some schools are starting to get exceptions so they can go back earlier, most still stick to it. I've always wondered if it is tied to the fact that the MN State Fair runs for the 12 days leading up to Labor Day.

We always start the week before Labor Day. Monday all the district teachers meet , Tuesday we meet at our schools, mostly to get our classrooms ready. Weds. and Thurs. the students come. Then everyone has a 4-day weekend followed by a 4-day week. It sort of eases everyone into the school year. Veterans' Day and Columbus Day follow pretty quickly after that.

Our schools got out the end of May. They go back August 1. We have year round school.

Gosh, it is humid here today and no breeze. I mowed this morning and it was already 84 degrees at 8:30. That isn't bad until you add in the humidity. The shady spots were nice and very welcomed.

I live right on the edge of a woods and if I open my basement door that faces the woods, a cool breeze comes up the stairs. My cats will lay at the top of the stairs to cool off.

I just wanted to thank you all again for your prayers and good wishes for me and my cousin. I didn't post much about it this week because I was too upset to talk about it. I was notified Tuesday there was some glitch in the approval process and she could not be admitted to Assisted Living until it was approved. OMG. I almost lost it. Have you ever felt the weight of the world come down you and you have no where to turn? I prayed and prayed and got on the phone and made myself known with many phone calls and lots of information to people who don't know how to properly do their job...anyway it worked.......... today GREAT NEWS. She's being admitted on Monday! Okay...I'll hush now. lol

I was able to do some painting at the house my parents are renovating this week. Have you ever tried to paint inside a closet? I think my butt's too big for that. lol Is it just a guy thing or what. They Kiltzed and painted most all the rooms, but left the closets untouched. Isn't that odd? This weekend I'm planning to paint more closets. The problem is getting air ventilation and it's going to be in the 90's again today.

When my mother had to go into assisted living, the process was so complicated that we paid someone who used to work in the healthcare approval system to handle it for us. This woman made a very nice living as a consultant and assistant to people who just couldn't wade through the paperwork and approval process on their own. It was the best money I've ever spent.

I've worked in assisted living for 18yrs and I have no idea why ya'll would have such a hard time getting a loved one in. Are you using medicare or Medicaid money? In Alabama medicare won't pay for assisted living. All their costs are out of pocket. Otherwise the only thing the facility needs is an empty room and physical and tb test from their dr. Here most of the dr's will fit a patient in if they know they're trying to get moved. We've moved people in the same day they came to tour because their dr was able to fit them in for the physical that just states they're free of infectious diseases and lists their meds and they were able to do a chest xray for the tb test instead of waiting two days for the arm test. I'm sorry to hear ya'll have such troubles with it.

Not this past Saturday but a week ago Saturday my internet dish got struck my lightening. I just got it fixed Wed. Talk about frustration. The problem was just getting the contractor to come. Finally told Hughes Net to get a different contractor and the new guy came the next day. I know, I know, first world problems. But my internet is my addiction. I've missed ya'll!
