I've lived up here in the woods for a long time. Every time I take the dogs out at night I hear all kinds of noises, rustling in the bushes, animal footsteps etc. and the noises never bother me.
About 3 years ago I opened the door to let my dog out and as soon as I stepped out onto my porch, I just had a weird feeling. I couldn't hear anything but something just didn't feel right. It was that "hair on the back of your neck standing up" type of feeling.
I called the dog back inside and literally ran back into the house and locked the door.

Less than ten minutes later, my entire hill was lit up with lights, a helicopter was circling over my house and my hill was swarming with cops.
Turns out there was a drive by shooting in town and the shooter was hiding in a tree on my property.

    Yup, you did right .

It wasn't a premonition or anything. I had been hearing sirens and helicopters in the distance for a couple hours. I just never thought it would happen so close to my house. They found him about an acre and a half away.

Debb, I'm glad everything turned out well. Just one choice can change everything. I'm glad your inner voice was so loud.

I posted somewhere yesterday that my sons were taking me and DH out to dinner at my favorite local Italian restaurant for my birthday. It was to be my oldest son, DIL, granddaughter and her friend, and my youngest son, DIL and the two littler grandkids. Only Tyler, my oldest and favorite grandson couldn't be there because he had to move to Dallas last February for a job he took.

My husband and I were sitting in the lounge with a cocktail, waiting for the others to arrive when my oldest son walked in, followed by my DIL and my granddaughter....... and Tyler!!! Best. Surprise. Ever!! I squealed and cried and hugged him! Nothing could have made my day more special and I hadn't a clue it could happen! I'm feeling pretty lucky and blessed in my life right now. Here is my philosophy at this ripe old age: Life is full of "ups" and "downs". If you're in a "down" right now in your life, just hold on, the "up" is probably just around the corner! Yup!

I'm off to my son's house for the day. I'm so looking forward to this. My honey is even home from the road for a few days so he gets to go too. All of us together is so much fun, my face always hurts after we get together from laughing so hard.
I hope you all have a happy, safe Sunday (and Monday for those who are off work).

Oh yes. I hope all have a safe Memorial Day.

We grilled steaks last night and they were the best I have think I've ever had! I try to limit my red meat, but that was awesome. We are are going to ribs on the grill tomorrow. Talk about overload. That will be my limit for awhile.

There is nothing more disgusting that watching the race car drivers drink that nasty milk and then pouring it over their heads when they win.
