Thanks for the well wishes. I hope everything turns out ok for him. I asked them why they didn't come to me sooner and they said they knew they could have but they had it handled at the time.

I feel for my dil to have to go through something like this. But honestly I can not stand her. I had tried looking for the thread complaining about inlaws around Christmas time but couldn't find it.

So, this afternoon, I saw a pair of high-waist jeans on this woman....they were turquoise spandex....shine and all. It was obvious that they were newly purchased. All I can say is that if you are considering wearing this look, please keep in mind that SHINE ADDS DIMENSION, no matter the color. I could be wrong, and probably am, but this is a style I don't see being around for a long time. Wendy has really become very slender below the waist, and I can see her trying this. All I can say is that just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Spandex has always been a higher waist, at least from what I can recall. I don't do shiny

I'm glad to hear a higher waist is coming back. I haven't had a decent pair of jeans since the hip huggers got so popular. And I only think those are nice on skinny women. If you have any kind of meat on your love handles the hip huggers show it off. My daughter is very skinny but she has meat in her love handles and she has a very well rounded back side. The hip huggers give anyone with an inch to pinch the muffin top look. And I have a lot of inches to pinch in that area.

The idea of the high waist is to show off the high waist. That's never was a look of which I was fond. You can have a waisted pant without it having to be exaggerated high or too low. I think the key is to find a brand that works with your body type; I guess you could always have them tailored. I definitely believe in tailoring.

I had to laugh at Monica on Friends the other night when I saw her high waisted jeans. And I wondered just how much I liked them in the 90's. I think the way they were worn then look just as bad as the hip hugging muffin tops. There has got to be middle ground.

Man these pants take me back. I recall that in the 70's I had high waist, wide legged pants and I had hip hugger pants with wide legs. I guess both were in at some point. I loved them when I had a tiny waist. Now I would ridiculous in them. lol

The girls in the photo on page 2 sitting on the bed remind me of my crew back then.

Thank goodness I'm too old to be concerned about the latest style. I remember the first go-round for high waisted pants. I didn't wear them then either. Short women with a short waist look downright ridiculous in them. The "waist" comes up to your ribcage & pretty much eliminates the fact that you have a waist.

Back in the day, I wore the hip huggers, although back then the word hip meant hip, as in hugging the hip bone. The latest incarnation is well below that. You pretty much have to shave down there to wear them. I have a name for them, but I don't think it's allowable on FORT.

I wear my jeans/pants just below my belly button. They fit comfortably there, sitting or standing. No muffin top. And they flatter my waist, even though it is touch thicker with age.

Just so the stores continue to sell the style that flatters me, I don't give a darn what the latest style is.
Let the style conscious wear them. They'll go out of style soon just like the last time, then back in, then out again.
Sometimes I feel I should have kept my pants from the old days 'till they came back in style, except they were a size 3 then. I couldn't get them on now, much less button the waist.

I've never understood low-rise jeans. Besides producing the muffin-top effect on some people, you have to wear longer tops with them to cover the belly, and it makes people look like they have short, stubby legs.

High-rise jeans makes legs look longer from the front, but tend to make one's tush look really long from the back. Maybe it's time for a new jean - higher in front and lower in back.

Low rise jeans are good for females who are built like boys.....no curves.
