    Re: FORT Koffee Klatch

We had an interesting thing happen at our middle school assembly for Memorial Day today. At the end when the first half of taps was being played, the young girl couldn't hit one note. The second time she couldn't hit it, she broke down crying. Her dad came out with a toddler on his hip and encouraged her to keep going. She started over and this time hit most of the notes. After the echo played from a different part of the building, the students were asked to stand while the veterans were escorted out. But instead of following the escorts, the veterans all walked over to the far side of the gym to express their gratitude to the girl who didn't give up. I don't think there was a dry eye among our staff.

The price of apples has gone up because there aren't enough bees.

I've heard the bees are in decline. I'm thinking about planting some fruit trees. I guess I need to find out if I have enough bees for it.

Bees are the main insect that pollinate fruit trees however, there are other insects that also help in pollination.

I'm doing my part... I have a lot of bee balm in my garden and I never use pesticides.

Thanks! Bees are not crazy about having their picture taken. It was patience with me for awhile and then gave me a friendly warning... that's enough... buzz.

I think you avatar is bee-autiful! I am waiting for the Bumble Bees to come enjoy my (overgrown) raspberry patch.

Just heard this on the news... keep fresh basil plants in your kitchen to keep away flies, wash down the counter with water/vinegar mix to get rid of ants (destroys their trail), and CATNIP is almost as effective as DEET to keep mosquitos away.

If you have Netflix there is an awesome documentary about bees Queen of the Sun. There are a few hokey people on it but the message is really good. (I am a documentary addict)

I turned my front lawn into a lavender field. The honey bees are happy.
