I must have been traveling when all that happened. I'm upset with something new on my computer. I can't Google. Or rather, I Google, all the usual choices pop up, but when I click on them it briefly says "redirect" in the bar and then I get sent to an unrelated site wanting to sell me something. I recently did an update of something or other and wonder if I "restore" my computer to a week ago if things will right themselves. I use Google a LOT, so I'll have to take it to a computer doctor if I can't figure it out myself.

Yup, Google Redirect Virus. :nod They can be quite nasty, so you should get it removed as soon as you can. It can really mess with your hard drive.

Thanks. I tried a "Restore" but it didn't help, so I'm going to make an appointment to have a computer place take a crack at it.

Can you run a security scan? There should be a short one and a long one. I start with the short one. That's always what my computer guy tells me to do when something odd starts happening.

I'll poke around and see if I can figure it out. Someone posted things to try a page or two back and I may try to figure those out... I'm not very computer savy, though. I'm a little nervous I'll delete something important.

What is the first movie you can remember going to see? Would you believe that I was allowed to go see Psycho (Anthony Perkins)??? :lol The only fright I suffered from that movie was hearing what I now know to be a pipe noise, and I ran, screaming/laughing (at the same time), down the steps! I had tears in my eyes, but I was OK when I got back to the living room where the family was hanging out. I was not a nightmare kind of kid, but after having seen that movie, I should have been! That pipe noise took me straight back to the shower scene with Janet Leigh. I love that movie, to this day!!

I highly recommend the free version of malware bytes: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download
Although we have picked up some nasty bugs in the past that have prevented us from running diagnostic programs (including this one). Those ones are pretty ugly to fix if you aren't comfortable with computers.

Note: Do not do ANYTHING through your browser that could compromise your data right now. If you always get redirected to the website the hijacker wants you at and you can't get anywhere else this is not an issue. However, if it will let you get to any other websites avoid logging in to any accounts with passwords. If you are being re-directed but can still get to some other websites it is possible the malware/virus could be capturing your info.
