This has been a long process. We had to wait til the mother didn't do anything for a few years and the fathers have never been an issue. The mother was the one we had to get around. We have had the kids since they were little and the boy is 9 1/2 and the girl is almost 8 and we have had her since she was 4 months old. When the lawyer filed the papers for severing of rights she put in them the court doesn't need your permission to do this so the mother knew it was all over for her unless she could afford an expensive attorney. We have been so blessed to have a wonderful attorney who has fought for us the whole way and of course her being an adoption specialist attorney didn't hurt. Than God is is almost over with and we don't have to ever worry about the mother getting the kids as her life style isn't conducive to their well being.

So happy for you nennie, that this is almost over with. It has to be a tremendous load off your shoulders. Those children are so blessed to have you.

We have never had a problem raising the kids but their mother has been a constant trouble maker and that is what was rough. Now we don't have to worry about her threats to take the kids anymore. She would have had to gone to court to get them because we had guardianship of them. It is a tremendous load off our shoulders angelic. The kids are excited their grandmother is adopting them but the boy keeps saying I'm still going to spend my time at nahnah's (as he calls me) house like he wouldn't since I pick them up from school 4 days a week and keep them til their grandma gets off work. Since the little girl doesn't remember her mother she never says anything but the only thing the boy has said he would like to see his mother but doesn't want to live with her.
