I renewed my driver's licence and my car registration today....2 different locations. I expected misery. I left home at 8:15, and was, back home by 9:05!!! It doesn't get much better than that! I'm taking this as an omen that it's going to be a great day, even if it is going to be a million degrees!!!

Shay -- that is amazing for going to motor vehicles in person. Here we do everything by mail or internet; I even ordered my vanity plates online when it was time to renew my registration. I hope your omen was correct and that you will have a wonderful day, even if it is like a sponge out there and hot as Hades.

    It's 11 a.m. here in central Ohio, it's 91 with a heat index of 106 already. I'm going nowhere.

A friend of mine who lives on a lake invited me to come over and hang out on inner tubes and chat. Must shave legs.
    Count your blessings!

    Re: FORT Koffee Klatch

This morning was the first morning in DAYS that was actually almost comfortable! A couple of days ago we had 96 degrees with an 83 degree dewpoint. The heat index was about 118. It was hot as Hades!!!

We have been working on a complete kitchen remodel (we started gutting it just over 2 months ago) and this week we had our counter top installed and the plumber came and hook all of our kitchen plumbing back up. After months of avoiding "real" cooking because any dishes had to be washed in a dishpan in the bathtub, I have never been so excited about the prospect of washing a mountain of dishes after cooking a big meal!!!! I have been making a mental list of all the incredibly messy and delicious things I can cook again!

On another note, can you believe stores have school supplies out already!? I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm not ready. I have decided to be on the ball about it this year though. Earlier this week I actually went out and picked up some items that are always hard to find around here as the start of school gets closer.

After seeing this on Facebook I feel bad about complaining about the heat.

I was going to complain about how hot it is... then I realized that at least:
    1.) it isn't 119 degrees
    2.) I'm not 5,700 miles from home
3.) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform and helmet and carrying 70+ lbs
4.) there is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today!
    THANKS TO ALL WHO SERVE!

Gut-you need to find your friends that don't require you to shave your legs! lol

Can't believe, either, that school supplies are out! Guess Christmas is right around the corner!

Yes, it puts it all in perspective, doesn't it, Unklescott?
