Sometimes you don't know a decision is a bad one until later. I've made decisions and then discovered that because I didn't have enough information when I made the decision, it turned out to be bad.
I consider a mistake to be something that is sort of uncontrollable. Not an intentional thing. Hence, it being a mistake.
I agree that a bad decision and a mistake are completely different. With a decision you make a choice based on some information, and maybe that turns out badly. A mistake is more on par with an accident. For example, I chose to eat Taco Bell for lunch today. If I end up feeling terrible later this afternoon, then I will know that was a bad decision! :lol If I tripped on the way to my car or wrote something down with marker and it got on my hand, those would be mistakes.
However, I can think of cases where many people would call something a mistake when it was originally caused by a bad decision. For example, if I missed a meeting on Monday morning it would be a mistake, but it could have been caused by the bad decision to not check my calendar Sunday night. Unwanted pregnancy is sometimes considered a mistake, but it is usually the result of the bad decision to not use birth control.
That question got more interesting as I thought about it! :)
In terms of baking, if I inadvertently leave out an ingredient, that would be a mistake. However, if I were to consciously tinker with the recipe and it turned out badly, that would be a bad decision. :cake
So, I've never had this happen before. I haven't checked my mail in about 4 days (bills and stuff ya know!) and I guess the mailbox wouldn't close and my neighbor said the mailman just took off with all the mail. My son is going to go down and check the box to see if there is a little card requesting I pick up the mail at the post office. If there isn't a card, can I still go down to the PO tomorrow and request my mail?
I've had that happen before and I'm pretty sure if your DL has the same address, they'll give you the mail whether you have that card or not.
Oh yeah, I never even thought about using my DL. My brain is a bit foggy lately!
