I think that Gut and I should work at the same school and get rid of those teachers she is talking about! I've worked with a few of those myself. One made me cry at least once a year for about 15 years. She was a workplace bully and I did not have the skills to repel her. But I do now. Thank goodness she is retired now. Our whole school became a happier place to be when she left. My problem now is a few younger teachers who come in thinking they know it all and that those of us who have worked in schools over 20 years are inferior. It gets old, it is insulting and gets in the way of doing our best for our kids who need us all. I usually win them over eventually, but it takes time. In my job I need to get along and work with everyone in the school. But I advocate for the kids first...

Cootie, it's not just in schools, it's everywhere. I wish I could ride in a time machine, about 30 years into the past, so I would know everything again.

Yes, this teacher is still in her 20s or early 30s. Her dad is the high school principal, and she coaches. She struts around like a peacock and wears clothes and shoes that are forbidden in the student dress code. Her tone of voice at any given time is "Miss Know-it-all". It really seemd to confuse her that I was apoligizing and not attacking back.

So she gets preferencial treatment. Sounds like a good case of nepotism. I just dealt last year with a teacher with that attitude and it is a hard pill to swallow knowing that we have that calibur of teacher in the school systems.

Well just be careful in your dealings with her Gut. By apologizing you threw her off balance, but you are in her sights now and she'll be waiting for an opportunity to bully you. I think you should make sure you have a impartial teacher around and just simply ask her to clarify what she was raving about. She is going to look stupid when she starts talking about how she was being loud in the hall lol. That way you have a witness to this and the element of surprise in yours. And she knows you cannot be pushed around. The only way she is going to leave you alone now is if she respects you.

Thanks livin - she has bullied another teacher before. I'm not afraid to stand up for myself if it's over something more important, but I hope this is the end of it.

If it were me, I'd take some pictures of her in her inappropriate clothing and email threm to the superintendant or local board of education, and not because of the incident, but because it's a really bad exmple for the kids so far as respecting rules and authority goes. I am confused by the shoe part though; when I was in high school the only requirement was that shes be worn

The people here are so nice, I have to pinch myself sometimes. It's been years since I got up the nerve to post on a board after an extremely negative experience over at CBS a few years back. I disagreed with someone about something, not realizing there was a strong clique going on there, and WHAM! I was labeled a "troll" and treated terribly. I left and have never been back.

So I've been reading boards but not even considering posting until I stumbled upon this one. After reading for a while, I decided to test the waters, and it's so refreshing!

I've not seen any nasty language, no attacks against other posters...everyone seems to normal and civil What a concept!

If there is some secret forum where you guys slug it out, don't let me know, okay? Thanks for providing a safe haven for discussing reality TV.
