I'm from Maryland (duh it's in my screen name) and we have well over 18 inches. At my house it is untouched and beautiful, but the digging out will no doubt commence later today. The amount of snow has made some unusual shapes, such as on top of my grill, which looks like a huge dunce cap. There has also been a lot of drifting due to the wind.

Funny thing my son and his family just this week moved from Michigan to Pennsylvania for his wife's job, but one thing they wanted to get away from was the bitter cold and snow in Michigan. Whoops!! I am sure we will not see the likes of this kind of snowstorm again for a while. Hopefully!!

So far we only have a dusting here in northern MA, but the coast and southern part of the state are supposed to get a foot or more. I have things to do today, so I really hope we don't get a lot more. The pictures on the news last night of the whole Eastern sea board were horrendous. They talked about how it will affect the last weekend before Christmas sales figures.

There are areas around me that have snow cover. I didn't measure, but fortunately for me I think being 2 blocks from Lake Michigan has saved me so far. I have wet gound.

My tv/living room is situated in a converted, unheated shed. I keep it closed off in the winter. It's also where we put our Christmas tree, which we got yesterday and I stored on the porch to keep it out of the snow until I could clear a spot for it inside. So this morning I bundled up in layers with a heavy scarf and cleared out that spot. Now I have to get the stand and decorations out of the attic, but I don't want to risk waking my daughter as the attic door is across from her bedroom door. My feet and cheeks are cold like I've been outside. Brrrrrrrr. Time for some chai.

This is my 24th winter in San Diego. I've yet to miss the snow (as many of my Midwestern family and friends had predicted). I love 72ºF and sunny during Christmas week!

Yes, I've been back there at Christmas time. Couldn't wait to come back home to San Diego.

On the other hand, I love Milwaukee in early October.

Much snow across the pond as well, here in Europe. I live in the south of Sweden and we rarely get snow for Christmas. Well, we predict that we will have a White Christmas this year. It's been snowing constantly from Thursday to today and we have about 12 inches. The forecast says it won't snow again until Wednesday, but then again they also said it would only snow Thursday/Friday, not during the weekend.
I like the snow, altough it takes longer to get places. And I don't have proper winter shoes, I used my skiing clothes for my morning walk (to the mailbox 1/4 mile away) but my feet were freezing since I didn't have proper shoes. But I still like it!

For my fellow flower children of the 60's/70's VH1 Classic is showing Woodstock tonight at 8 p.m.

Click on the link for an audio clip of Wavy Gravy's infamous morning announcement and a cool Woodstock memorial site.

What we have in mind is breakfast in bed for 400,000!

    Bummer! Missed it!
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. Martin Luther King, Jr.
