Wow. My daughter (age 9) is into American Girls. We don't do the dolls, but she reads their books (and wishes over the catalogs they send out). I hadn't heard about this doll's story... had to go searching for more, too. So I read she's a limited edition companion to the modern girl of the year, and she and her mom were homeless for a time after her dad lost his job and then left them?
Seems a little heavy, but I can see how good things could come of her story.

Can anyone shed any light on this horrendous sounding treat? I just can't imagine.
