There's a "Grammar" thread here somewhere, and it was not only used for questions and answers, it was a wonderful place to vent about these things. Maybe someone should dig it out of the trash!

I am annoyed to vomiting with "RIP", and "anyways". "RIP" is one of those things you used to see only in graffiti that has found its way into general communications. I just think that all of this abbreviation is trifling.

One that just really irritates me is DH. Can people not just type "husband"?
DH just sounds so, well, ridiculous.
DH (or DD, DS or DM) irritates the hell out of me as well. Can we not all just assume that the relation in question is dear to the poster?

Before I knew what DH stood for I assumed it stood for 'deceased' husband. That is why I'm not a fan of those acronyms and don't use them often.

Oooh, I wasn't even aware of that one... I was thinking of grammar discussion.

I'll admit to using "DH" on occasion (and for some reason I always read the "D" as daaaaahling). After seeing it used here and elsewhere I thought it was accepted; now after reading all these posts on the subject, guess I'll think twice about using it in the future! But at least it keeps me from using "my honey" or "hubbikins" which would be even more ridiculous.

Maybe someone could merge the two into the Grammar Discussion thread

Now see, I always got a chuckle out of DH, because I always imagined an eye roll accompanying it... as in "that guy I put up with".
    Count your blessings!
