Like myrosiedog, I have been going through a change in my glasses. I am trying soft contact lenses after wearing hard or gas permeable lenses for 40 years as the reading glasses I now need to see close up were driving me crazy when I tried to teach classes using a computer and read text in a book and also try to make eye contact with my students all at the same time - or nearly so! It was making me dizzy. So the plan is to get progressive lenses glasses for work and then wear the soft contacts whenever I feel like it.Originally Posted by Gutmutter;3534597;
I don't have the glasses yet, but finally have a prescription. I plan to get them at Costco, but I have looked into possibly getting some online as there are some very reasonable options out there. The lenses used at some of these places might not be as good, but for a spare pair?
By law, your eye doctor is supposed to give you your prescription if you request it. But if it is over a year or two old, you may not be able to get a prescription filled at an optical store. Online, it seems that you could write yourself any old prescription by what I have seen online??

). From what I understand about online ordering is that you can scan or fax your Rx and send it to the company so they know your Rx. It's what my optometrist (sp?) does, they don't maket he lenses in house.

. I am extremely fortunate to have insurance, but I can't imagine people who have to go to the ER and don't have insurance. Good grief.........
