It has a very big part in that for most Vegans. My stepmom is a vegetarian who has been trying to go Vegan. There are so many little things that go into it that make it so hard, like when you eat out. Even if you are just eating french fries from a resturant you need to ask them if they: A) cook any meat in the same fryer as the fries and B) if the oil they use is 100% made from veggies.

Right, some vegetarians will eat cheese and eggs, and will drink milk since no animal has been harmed. They will not eat meat.

Vegans will not eat any animal products period.

Other things vegetarians will not consume are chicken broth, beef broth (or anything made with such) and also jello, since the gelatin is derived from collagen which is the major component of connective tissues in animals.

Some vegetarians will eat fish, however.

And the bad thing about that is that they tell you what they think you want to hear. My daughter is very allergic to MSG and anything coconut. A while back they ate in a new restaurant and she asked if either product was in the food she wanted to order and was told no. Within seconds she knew that there WAS and shortly after that she was on her way to the ER.

I've also found out how to identify if your fruits are Organic as well. I stay away from 8(it's actually my favorite number) as it means that they're genetically engineered.

I'm perfectly happy with the job I have now, but taking the new one would mean no commute for either of us, sharing lunches, possibly working on the same projects, hanging out with the same work people, etc. But the paranoid side of me is saying that taking the new position means never getting away from each other, limiting our social network, and various other awkward situations my overly active imagination has come up with. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this and has any good (or horror) stories to share.
I worked for my parents and let me say that is NOT a good thing when you also lived with them.
The only area where I would say be careful is that I know of a situation where one spouse was fired and they fired the other one because they felt that the bad feelings the remaining one had would hinder the work being done and would create a problematic work enviroment. Let me add that this is a right to work state, so they don't have to have a cause to fire you. I don't know if this would pertain to your area or not.
My parents worked together for years and years and it went fine for them. But then again, they also owned the company.

Every place I know of will not allow husband / wife to work together. They can be in the same company, but they cannot work together on things or report to same person / dept.

A Vegetarian usually doesn't eat meat or fish, but does eat dairy and eggs. They are also called lacto-ovo vegetarians.
Then you have lacto-vegetarians that eat dairy but not eggs.
Ovo-Vegetarians eat eggs, but not milk or dairy products.
Pescatarian eats fish, but no other types of meat.
Vegan eats no animal products whatsoever.
Flexitarians will eat mostly vegetarian, but occasionally will eat meat.

I know all this as I just had this discussion with a vegetarian friend recently. She has been vegetarian for 19 years and last week decided to eat a Slim Jim. Yes, of all things, she ate that. I could think of 100 other meat products I would have eaten before eating the Slim Jim. To say she got sick from it was a gross understatement.

I may be the ONLY person who likes those creative job applications. I love to write essays, so getting asked questions like that on a job application is fun to me and a good challenge. But I'm a nerd like that.

Whatever possessed her to eat a Slim Jim? I have never had one. It just doesn't tempt me at all.

A few weeks ago, I was picking up my daughter from a friend's house and then taking them to get their nails done. The friend had just dyed her hair. She hops into the back seat and the odor was awful. I kept thinking, as I opened up my window!, "What the heck did you put in your hair?" Unbeknownst to me, she was eating a slim jim in the backseat of my car.....and that was what I was smelling!

I feel that exact same way about the way stuff from Taco Bell smells. It smells like burned rubber, to me.

    Re: FORT Koffee Klatch

Slim Jim's are so nasty. I have eaten a couple of them before. The worst thing is that when you bite into them, they squirt grease in your mouth. UGH. Beef jerky is so much better.

Someone left them at her house and she said she sat looking at them for several days before she picked one up and ate it. I would have gone for the T-bone steak (wrapped in bacon) if I was going to break 19 years of vegetarianism.

Shay, my husband hates Taco Bell. It is one of the very few fast food restaurants I WILL eat at. But he says that he doesn't eat there because Taco spelled backwards is O Cat. Plus he says everything there tastes exactly the same and it's all bad.
I do Taco Bell, Arby's, KFC and Long John Silvers. I HATE the rest. If I never ate at McDonald's again, I would be happy.
But the funny thing is that I only order 1 or 2 things off of the menu at each place because I only like 1 or 2 things that they sell. I just am not a big fan of fast food.
We have discovered a "diner" in our neighborhood that has been in business for 50 years. They have REAL hamburgers and onion rings adn milkshakes (I can't do milkshakes) and it's just about as fast as going to a fast food restaurant. The hamburgers are SOOOO good.
