    Re: FORT Koffee Klatch

I'm an excellant driver as well.

We had a learning disabled group of kids today at the museum. I love these kids. I always volunteer to do the learning disabled tours and I love it. The kids are just great and this group was no exception. In fact, the teacher talked today to my boss about scheduling more of their school (they are a private school for the LD) and they requested ME as the tour guide.

Anyway, I had several different disabilities in the group today and some were higher functioning than others. They were about middle school age for the most part. Anyway, about 10 min. into the tour, one of the boys tells me: "This is NOT how you give a tour." His teacher is trying to shush him, but I asked him what was wrong with it and he says: "more looking at stuff and less talking".
My boss was right there and he had to walk away because he was about to bust a gut laughing. I was too. It was so funny. As we talked about the Cherokee and what they hunted and what they wore and how when the settlers came, they wanted to trade for stuff they didn't have, I asked, why did the indians want to trade for clothes like the settlers had: "They were greedy" was the answer I got.

What I really love is that the kids are always so engaged. Most start out rather shy, but by the end, I"ve even got those participating. The kids brought lunch and ate at the museum too and they asked me to eat lunch with them. So I did. Then the kid that told me that I didn't know how to do the tour told me that it turned out to be a good tour.

I love working with ALL the kids, but these groups are my favorite. I always come away from them feeling so great, because the kids are so great and so happy and so much fun.

Quite honestly, I have only ever been in Kmart about a dozen times. I hate it so badly, I never shop there unless there is no other option or that I happen to see a sale flyer and there's something on sale that I must have. But that only happens about once every 10 years.
