This discussion makes me very glad I never took typing in high school
Strangely enough I ended up in the computer industry so I had to pick up the skill on my own anyway.

That is HILARIOUS! I was forced to take typing in high school and I did pretty well in that class. THEN I got an electric typewriter for Christmas that year (brother got a video game - I think it was ColecoVision - but STILL... typewriters are NOT good presents!).....

My mother STILL has a manual typewriter that is about 50 years old. She finally had to quit using it when the "ribbons" were no longer available She's not getting along so well with the computer keyboard, but we are working on that!

I had friends who took shorthand. I remember being fascinated by it. I also remember coming out of typing class spelling words I was thinking instead of just thinking words. Does that make sense?

My sister took shorthand and used to write dad letters in it. He'd have to take the to work to get his secretary to translate them.

Of course she was always strange like that (my sister, not the secretary)

Happy Valentine's Day, folksies!! Unbelievably...I've already gotten some lilies (stargazers!) and Godivas from somebody that I gave "the pink slip" to a couple of weeks ago. Good Grief.......oh well...thanks, I guess.....
