Gives me the shivers. Even though I received my very first Social Security deposit today, I still need to find work as I don't have health insurance and one minor hospital stay will wipe out my savings. I hope all of you are in better straights and not in a line that stretches a block for one job opening.
That is realllllly alarming!!! I am thankful every day that I am employed and I hope every day that my employer does not decide it needs to lay people off.

We awake this morning, do our normal morning routines. It's 6 degrees, 60% humidity, wind 16 mph out of the NNE.......heat index 248.

Everything is normal in my world! How's yours?

The coldest spot on my way into work this morning was -23F! The wind chill is down to -45F. All of the schools in our area are closed. Although our weather is expected to be cold in Jan, I thankfully wouldn't call this "normal". I'm just waiting for the warm up that is supposed to be coming for the weekend.

Sign me up. It was -24 here this morning, but at least we don't have much of a wind.

When I left for work this morning, it was -24, with a wind chill of -49. It has since warmed up! It's now -9, with a wind chill of -22. This is supposed to be the high for today, we are supposed to be even colder tonight!

It cooled down here today, too: 76ºF, sunny and a little breezy.

my daughter's birthday is this weekend and she was born during sub-zero temps. i've joked with her that while i enjoy reminscing the day of her birth 24 years ago, i could do without the reenactment of the temptures too

We were at 0 degrees this am. 10 of our buses gelled up. By that I mean the diesel in the fuel lines turns into jelly and they quit running. (and I had 50 gallons of fuel in mine) Mine did it too. I was able to get the last of my kids to school they were only about 15 minutes late. It gets really cold on those buses fast when the motor stops running and I'm thinking they should've called school off.
