If it rains really hard, our sat tv blinks a lot and searches for a signal. It irritates me but what can I do? It's the lord's way of saying play a game or something!

It drives my cable friends crazy when we are on the phone, and we both have the same program on television, and my sound is a couple of seconds behind theirs. I just attribute it to where my satellite signal is coming from as opposed to their cable signal.

We have satellite tv at our house in Maine because it's the only option. We have to have the dish readjusted every couple years or so (it's attached to a tree), and we almost always lose service when it rains, but other than that it's pretty good.

Cable can do that even just in another room. When we had cable before, I could be watching the same thing upstairs and the hubby downstairs and if you opened the door, you'd hear the tv downstairs a few seconds ahead of the one upstairs. It's the weirdest thing!

Diets deprive you of stuff and feeling deprived is what leads to overindulging. But in changing a lifestyle, you can still enjoy the occasional indulgence without going overboard and without feeling deprived.

Rattus, your WW leader needs to learn that lesson. And I've also had some WW leaders that were cult like. But in all things I've learned that the ex-smokers, the ex-overweight, the ex-drinkers sometimes can be the least lenient about anything having to do with the former "addiction". (and I know I'm a food addict). When I was an ex-smoker, I was horrible. Now that I smoke again I realize just how horrible I was and plan not to be that why when I'm an ex-smoker again.
I know that that can be a way to deal with the addiction from a lot of people, but they also need to realize that not everyone operates the same way either.
ITA. I never had a weight problem in my life until many years ago when I developed a serious life threatening, thyroid problem. I ended up joining WW and even worked for them for a while. The WW plan is a way of life through reducing caloric intake and exercise. Unfortunately, many ex addicts, like MRD says, end up proselytizing so much that it turns off many. Rob Reiner had been a heavy smoker for years. He then quit and obviously substituted his food addiction for his nicotine addiction. However, he went so overboard with railing against smokers instead of empathising with them, that he turned off millions of Californians. Addiction to anything is difficult and darn near impossible to break. Programs that realize this stand a far better chance of being successful than those that simply refuse to accept this.

Here's my latest, as in TODAY, satellite problem with my DVR. For some reason, everything on my DVR was dumped!!! All recordings, all schedules.........EVERYTHING. I am sick! And no, it wasn't full! Not that it's a big deal, but now I've got to reset everything. This has never happened before.

I know, I know...it's likely not a satellite problem; it's a DVR issue. Doesn't help, in my mind, that the DVR is hooked up to satellite.

That happened with our dvr once, the first one we had just after we'd had it a couple of weeks. We were able to get a replacement and haven't had that problem since. I would think something is definitely wrong with the dvr.

I love my dish. I haven't had any issues in the two years I have had it. Today it is pouring down raining and no issue what so ever. How lucky am I to be on vacation and it has rained the whole week? I haven't done any shopping for christmas this week and it's wed already.

Oh. I didn't cotton on to the sarcasm re: vacation/rain thing - I thought you meant it. Sometimes I just love when the weather is cold and wet during my vacation because I feel much less guilty about riding the couch watching movies and tv on DVD for the entire time. Which is how I intend to spend next week, snow or no .

I am only partially serious. I was though planning on shopping and getting ready for christmas early this year, for me at least. I am usually the one you see on Christmas eve running around crazy trying to shop at last minute. I can't help it Generally when I shop it winds up being two for me and maybe one for you, lol.
