I've never known a man to be upset about having to miss a wedding. My husband would be doing cart wheels on his way to the computer, grabbing the tv remote as he went. His only request would be that I pick him up something for dinner on my way home.

No man wants to go weddings, including his own.

I asked my husband what he'd think about this situation and he said it would hurt his feelings too. He did say, however, given the mental state of the bride, he'd begrudgingly understand. Still, maybe you could mention that you won't be able to stay long since "Mr. bug will be home by himself." Maybe they might reconsider.

First question my husband asks if we get invited to a wedding is: "will they have an open bar?". Those I have no problem getting him to attend.

Bug, I like the above suggestion, about going but not staying long.

I have anxiety, so I can totally relate to the bride, but on the other hand, it would hurt feelings to not be included. But if she doesn't know your husband, then I can also understand. Is that wishy washy enough for you?

It's a tough one, but they obviously mean a lot to you, so I think you should go. It's an honor to be included in their small ceremony when she has a problem with anxiety and crowds.

And I have to say that I don't know the groom, but I give him kudos. There's a lot of men who wouldn't want to get involved with a woman with "issues". He's a good man. I'm glad my husband took the chance on me and my "issues". Because of him, I have less issues than I used too.

Mr buglover is still a little upset but has told me to go. After a sleepless night I almost feel like just not going, but not making it seem like I'm not going because of him being asked not to come. Does that make any sense??
I really want to go but I think my feelings are hurt too. I do understand the situation regarding her anxiety/panic issues and apparently she has asked her father not to bring his girlfriend either. But Mr buglover is not my "boyfriend", he's my husband and has been for nearly a decade. She has met him a couple of times and we've had dinner together about 5 years ago. I am actually getting irritated as I type! Oh well, I've got a whole day to figure out what I'm going to do.

Buglover, go. Just pass off the hurt feelings and go. I know it hurts, but they do want you there and it isn't because they can't afford to have a ton of people there. There's a medical reason. So just let it go and go and be there for her. It will mean a lot to her and to you as well.

I agree with MRD. You'll regret not going the day after the wedding. You can't take it back if you don't go.
