Famita, you have a way with words.

Sorry Gut, I'm sure you don't think any of this is funny.

I just wonder what the heck prompted him to call from Thailand when he couldnt' be bothered to talk to you when he lived in the same house.

He called one other time when Ben happened to be home and they talked quite a while. I think he may have been disappointed that I was the only one home. But yeah - I can sure see the humor here.

Can anyone tell me what the point is of having a jacket with a zipper that can unzip from either end, but does not ever separate? Also, it's an anorak, and has an inside drawstring at the waist. Exactly how do you work that inside drawstring? I can usually figure these things out, but this time, I am stumped.

The inside draw string I understand - that blocks cold air coming up from below without pulling the outer layer closer to your body, thereby keeping the air baffle in place.

Unzipping from either end without separating? Now that is a mystery. A completely pointless mystery. I can't for the life of me think of a good reason for that.

Nope, no sweater boots. I realize that most of the time I wear boots is when it's both raining and cold, so the sweater boots would not be very practical when it's raining. I hate wet cold feet.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by not separate. Do you mean the inside and the outside of the jacket do not zip apart?

The reason for the two way zipper is to keep your top half warm when you need access to your bottom half ... like trying to get into a pocket (anoraks are usually longer coats), going pee in the woods, or sitting in the car (so you aren't all trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey)

What I am talking about when I say "do not separate" is that you have to put the jacket on over your head. What you say makes sense, but I don't like the idea of putting a jacket on over your head. Obviously, it's not that popular since you don't see much of it.

Gutmutter - your story was funny - and if you had "seen" it in my head, you'd be rolling on the floor laughing. I pictured you putting your head on the turkey, not the phone!
