I was born and raised too! But never paid a heat bill here until I came back. Yeesh. Some Minnesota things are so sweet and wonderful - like the apple orchard farm we went to last weekend. It was soo...Minnesota! And the beautful lakes. It is so heartwarming to be back home in Minnesota sometimes, kicking through the falling leaves, kayaking down the local creek.

But then there are some really whacky things that I kind of forgot about until I moved back here. People are really passive aggressive. If you address a stranger with, excuse me, to ask a question or to pay a compliment, they jump and stare at you like a deer in headlights! Strangers DO NOT speak to one another here (forgot about that). Plus people drive weird. They don't want to let anyone in their lane and pull up as close as they can to the car ahead of them so you can't get in. ??? And they cannot merge onto the freeway here. They enter into traffic going 30 mi/hr and if you slow down to let them in they hit the brakes too. ???

And if you are an adult with no kids, good luck finding anything to do. EVERYTHING is kid-related here. Hubby and I wanted to find a halloween party or something to go to, but it's either nightclub stuff for 21 year olds or kiddie parties. No adult oriented things. :-/

MRD I went through something similar when we were renting and had a landlord from hell. They used to call us at any hour of the day until 9 at night. We ended up taking them to small claims court for our deposit back. I had everything documented, pictures, witnesses etc plus I kept a record of when they called, the time, date and what they said. They (landlords) were ordered to pay our deposit back, court costs and we also got a bit of money for them harrassing us with their constant calling.

If the statements are written as affidavits and signed in front of a notary, they'll be accepted as evidence.

Yikes! As someone who's childfree by choice, that would drive me nuts.

My daughter is driving from Florida to Mass. today with everything she owns in her car making the move from Delta to Cape Air. If anyone has a prayer to spare, I'd feel better. Thanks!

Absolutely, Gut. Prayers are being said. I worry when my son drives even locally. A long trip like that must be a nail-biter. Let us know when she arrives safely.
