Yup, that too! I think they always pulled the stale, leftover Halloween candy from the back of the pantry for the 4th of July parade. But you'd think that crap was gold, the way we'd scramble for it!And all the kids wait for the candy that gets thrown from the floats and cars down the parade route.
There was an even smaller town in Wisconsin, near some lake with an island that we camped on in college. For their parade, they went around the block twice so that it seemed longer.

) and the women all dress up in Minnie Pearl like costumes and they play old timey kitchen utensils and kazoos. It's hilarious as they are all probably in their late 60's and 70's. They have a washtub bass and everything.
