So I've gotten over fireworks really quickly as it is not a pretty sight what it does to my doggies.

We can see the towns show from my backyard, so don't have to go anywhere. And I always watch the Boston Pops.

Hope everyone else has a great 4th.
I hear you there. While I don't need to sedate Mona or Joey, I like to have the windows closed, air running and either the tv playing or some Dean Martin playing. Since I moved to this apt 9 years ago they can't see the fireworks so it bothers them a bit. The old apt they used to sit in the window and watch all the pretty colors. If you think that's strange, whenever a semi, largish truck is parked nearby or fire engine goes by Mona runs to the window.

I pretty much got over the entire fireworks thingee years ago myself.

But anyway - to those of you that celebrate our Independence legally & safely - ENJOY!! to those people out there that do the illegal fireworks whatever, don't cry to me when you blow your fingers off.

We're going to a cookout with lots of relatives I don't get to see very often throughout the year! So, I'm really anxious for that. Happy Fourth Of July to all of my Fort friends.

We'll actually be in the States for our first 4th ever and staying in a cottage right on the water in Hyannis. I've got my fingers crossed for a spectacular display of fireworks since I haven't seen any in years, and I will be barbecuing something.

Happy Fourth! If anyone is going to barbecue, I would like to suggest you use come chimichurri sauce. It can be used as a marinade and/or a topping. It's like ketchup in Argentina. They use it a lot. I had some at a work-related BBQ a few years ago and have been making it for my family evers since. There are tons of recipe variations out there, but here's my recipe. I often double it depending on how much meat we are grilling. It works with pork, beef and poultry.

1/2 cup olive oil (virgin adds extra flavor)
1/2 basalmic vinegar
1/3 water ( I usually use less or it can be too watery)
1/4 cup fresh chopped oregano
1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
2 cloves garlic
3 tbsp red pepper flakes
2 tbsp lemon juice
salt and pepper.

Let it sit for at least an hour in teh frig before using.

It is a 4th of July and tradition in our family now.
I will try to catch some fireworks and hope that people don't get too drunk too early and start setting off fireworks in the morning.

Also, my bday is July 9th and I start the celebrating early and it lasts long. I'm definitely a Month of July celebrator!
We'll be going to a pool party on Sunday; we just got the invite. Spending time with good friends, good food, good music, and they live out in the country on lots of land, it's going to be a blast!

Well I can't take credit for that. It was from the movie Robin & the 7 Hoods with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, Peter Falk and a whole slew of stars 1964.
