Happy Independence Day everyone.
Drive safely everyone! Drunks on the road today. Also, lots of police out there, so go slow. I dropped my daughter off at the beach (she's a lifeguard at a state park) and it was already crowded. I'm staying close to home - going to the dump, doing laundry and dishes, reading a book, etc. Our fireworks were last week.
I am off to our Farmers Market soon, then later will meet up with friends and watch fireworks on a river.
It is a beautiful day here!
Went to the Farmer's Market for breakfast (the coffee booth there is to die for and so is the restaurant that has hot breakfast and pastries) and got corn for grilling tonight, the biggest sweetest cantelope I've ever seen.
I made gazpacho, potato salad, chicken salad and brownies. Ribs going on the grill later along with corn.
Was going to make the cucumber sandwich spread, but figure we have enough going on right now.
Oh, also great fresh blueberries for pancakes tomorrow.
And we got our baseball tickets for tomorrow's game from the voucher I won at work.
Have to sedate the dogs in a few hours, but we are not going to the fireworks. Too much traffic, too crowded. I will be able to hear them from here and if I got on the roof, I might be able to see them. But I will watch the Boston Pops instead.
Hope everyone's having a great day and weekend.
Mid-70ºsF and nicely breezy here today. We're going to Old Town for the 19th-century Fourth of July event -- partly to support the history interpreters and business owners who are always so nice and accommodating to my "without walls" students and me, partly because it's uncrowded fun.
Not going to fight traffic or crowds for the fireworks, though. Last night I walked to the park just past the school and Little League field across the street and saw nearly an hour's worth of fireworks -- Paradise Point followed by Sea World. Tonight the park is going to be packed, but last night there were only a handful of us -- all adults. It was great!
OK, so now I'm watching the James Bond marathon on tv. WOOO HOOO, exciting 4th around here. :lol
Ooh, what station?Quote:

Happy 4th of July!
We're going to grill some burgers later this afternoon :nod
Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
Ellen, you're about the 5th woman I know of today watching the Bond marathon. I thought I was one of the few females that got into the Bond movies.
(and I must say, that the 7 of us lead very exciting lives watching Bond on July 4th. :lol)
Happy 4th of July, everyone! God Bless America.
