So hubby pumps gas, but does he check the oil or wash the windshield? NO. He's going to have to shape up or get fired as my gas station attendent. Unfortunately there IS no one else to do it but me.

We had friends down from Pennsylvania about 5 years ago and they were not only floored by self serve, but by the fact you can buy beer EVERYWHERE. Every convenicence store (which is also a gas station) sells it, the drugstore sells it the grocery store, etc. Apparantly they have to go to state run stores to buy any alcohol. Even Walmart sells it here.

A new station opened here last weekend. It is full service. I haven't seen that in years. There is a deli, with an ice cream fountain inside, too. My husband doesn't want us to use Exxon gas, but I'm tempted to go just once for old times sake.

I thought it was time to bring this back since prices have again risen just in time for long weekends and summer holidays. It's now $1.09/litre. I'll have to do some math to get imperial.

I don't understand why the violence in Israel and Lebanon is creating another increase in cost of oil and gas. Last I checked, neither had any wells or tar sands.

    Don't Laugh, I'm getting 30 miles a gallon!

I just got the scoop from the media at noon that gas prices have risen at some stations. By the end of the day they will be $1.15/litre. That's up six cents in one day!!! I just filled up.

I don't understand why the prices change daily and weekly based on oil prices for gas that has already been refined, prepared and pumped into the tank at the station.

I think the news fuels the fire. A couple of weeks ago they broke the ice by mentioning it going up to $4 a gallon by the end of summer. Last night they said it was over $3 a gallon all over town (where I just came from and it was about $2.88-$2.94.) My husband gets our vehicles and goes a block to the gas station to fill them up at $2.92 (thank heavens because this morning it was up to $3.12.)
Utterly ridiculous. When do the oil companies next have to post what their profits are?
