    Re: What are your Hobbies?

If I can figure out a size that will work here, I'd like to share the backdrop I made with my students for the spring concert. It is huge - to go on the curtains at the back of the stage. 4 panels of felt flowers on burlap. They made the flowers and I used a hot glue gun to design the placement (and made a gazillion small circles for embellishment).

Well, it's a little hard to really see the enormity of it, but you get the idea.

Forgive me if I've already posted this:
I've taken up embroidery again at work. It's period-appropriate (1821–1872) and a great conversation piece with our visitors.

Please post when you are finished. I really like that era.

I used to do embroidery whan I was young, but had no idea that there were different embroidery styles by period. That's interesting. Could you elaborate on that?

It's not really the type of embroidery — I meant that the craft itself is period-appropriate.
But I do have to use materials and colors that are appropriate for that era: so, no wild flourescents or plastic hoops, etc.
I did, however, do a quick Google search for pictures of designs. Flowers and baskets — yes. Disney princesses, Spongebob, and Smurfs — no.

I know that we have some very gifted and crafty FORT members around here, so I thought I would ask about something I saw online. I'm considering making some of my own candles. It seems easy enough. I want to make something that has a fragrance that I like and that is personnel. Anyone tried this? If so, what do you think about it? (Scroll down for the instructions.)

I would wander over to Michael's and check out their candle making kits and try one of those to see how you like it.

That's pretty nice, but I wanted to save money on them. One of those for $29.99 makes two candles. Hmmm.....maybe they are large candles. lol I was thinking this might be cheaper than retail. I will go in and check out what they have.

I used to buy these wonderful candles from a couple of specialty shops in the mid-late 90's. The shops have closed and I don't know the companies that made these candles. I think they were earth type fragrances that had a spiritual quality about them. I wish I could recall their names.

These are in that family of candles, but it's still not quite what I use to use.
Amazon.com - Aromatherapy Candles- Lavender, Lemongrass & Orange, Tangerine & Lavender- made with 100% pure essential oils - 3oz each - Whole Foods Candles

I do recall I liked this fragrance.
