Marleybone: Oh, Darling, you are going to go mad for this machine!!! To think that I OWN one, and don't have to go to a B & B to enjoy it!!!!

Note: Read the instructions so-o-o-o carefully; it took two of us to brainstorm it. Also, by complete accident, we discovered that you can hit the "Brew" button over and over again (once it's done processing) to get a GIANT cup of coffee! We have 16 ounce mugs, and even at the #5 setting, I wasn't getting as full a mug of coffee that I wanted. So, I ran the Sumatra once, let it shut off, ran it twice, shut off, and the third cup was a charm. Mind you, the brew was pretty transparent by this time, but the brew strength was exactly what I wanted!

    Cheers, Marleybone!

Boy, I'm here in Boston salivating over my lousy cuppa home-brewed Dunkin' Donuts coffee, just wishing The Pomeranians and I were visiting either Marleypal or lambicaf!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to both of you on the delivery of your Flavia machines, and thanks for the tips on them!

As I said above, I always thought they were for businesses only, so I'm delighted to know we can have them at home, too.

Just curious - as to what brand of coffee all of you prefer. Dunkin Donuts is a really good coffee.

I have a thing for mint/chocolate cappacino they sell at speedway gas stations. I worked at one (a block away) but now I have to drive 30 min. out of my way to get one cause they have differant flavors now. Where can I get that????
I might as well work. I'm in a bad mood anyway.

Pommie: You're as adorable as your avatar!!! THANKS for the sweet sentiments!

Well, Sally and I had the machine less than 24 hours and we whipped right through HALF of the sampler box! Gluttons??? Hell YAH!

I've had Sidamo, Sumatra, House Blend, Decaf House Blend, Coco, Earl Grey and Spicy Chai. The Earl Grey tea was SO spectacular, that Sally and I just stared at each other, made obscene noices worthy of the cheapest porno flick, and had another cuppa cups within 20 minutes. I already went back to Flavia's website and ordered the 100 box refill of the Earl Grey!

I know that we're totally abusing it right now, and I'm as happy as a pig in ____, with that knowlegde. Pommie: It's been over 6 years (when I worked at Starbuck's) that I remember tasting coffee THIS fantastic. Over the years since I worked there, it just seemed that home brewed coffee got worse and worse tasting, to the point where DAILY, I was buying $7.00 bucks worth of coffee drinks at either Starbuck's or Dunkin donuts...and that's for TWO lousy drinks! Now, with the *FREE*....yes! *FREE*....travel mug that came with the Sampler Kit, I can pay $1.60 per day for two cups of coffee and use the rest to bank and also buy more refills. That's quite a sizeable amount of money, per day, to save...$5.00 bucks!? That's $35 dollars per week! Plus, the pure, indulgence of it all, having scalding hot coffee within 38 seconds?! Come on, who wouldn't like THAT????

Here's a photo of my Spicy Chai latte, from this morning. Cheers!

lambi - That looks divine.. I love the cup too! This is driving me nuts, I'm sitting here looking at my YUUUUGE Flavia box and I can't have it yet. In addition to the sampler pack I ordered the Japanese Green Tea, Espresso, Coco and Breakfast Blend for Mr. Marleybone (aka Santa-bone)... gonna make a believer outta him yet.

Isn't the crystal mug "to die for"??? I found two, and ONLY two, at some posh shop in Michigan. I didn't care if they had any others (they didn't) because two was just perfect for Sally and me!

Marley: WAIT until you try the Creamy Frother in your sampler pack! Girlfriend, it will scare the knickers right off of you!

You put the Creamy Frother pack in 1st, in the "Two Pack" button. It dribbles out, like the others, and then a HUGE jet stream of steaming water fires right into the mug, which is what foams it! Then, when the light starts to flash, telling you to "put in second pack", you put your Chai/Mocha/Coffee in the holder, more water dribbles out, and then a second GIANT blast of jet water shoots out, again. And Saturday is less than 8 hours away; I can not wait to hear what you think!

Very cool entertainment for the Minimally Challenged!

Glad I stopped in here for a peek. I'm looking for a coffee maker 'cause I don't own a decent one. My sister has to bring hers for Xmas brunch. I'll look into the Flavia: it sounds marvelous! Do you know if they are available in Canada?

Also, have any of you tried Gevalia coffee/tea? Their free coffee maker is nothing special (could only get the 4 cup up here ), but I thought their product and selection wasn't bad. Gevalia has been the coffee purveyor to His Majesty and the Royal Court of Sweden and is imported through Des Moines, Iowa.

Marleybone, now I'm excited for you too! I hope your coffeemaker arrives safely. And Lambikins, I love that you have feathers on your Xmas tree! (from your coffee mug photo). I thought I was the only one.

Okay...I am so getting me one of these

My Dad wanted to get me a kitchen appliance for my new place and I am going to ask him for this. Doesn't hurt to try.
