    I need vintage clothing help.

    Hey Guys,
Is there any one out there that was a teenager or in their mid twenties during the 70's? If so I need help hubby and I got invited to a Christmas party December 9th and the thing is its a theme party, so we have to dress up in 1970's clothing. Also we're going to a disco so the clothing has to be night club 1970's.
    Any help appreciated.

Ahem...I was 15 years old in the mid 70's. Everyone wore very wide leg "Tribal" pants. Also, striped t-shirts (horizontal) with scarves (tied like the girl scouts...ha!). Gaucho pants and turtle necks (cowl necks) were big. Hmmmmm...what a trip down memory lane...lol: Guys wore platform shoes, puca shells, long hair, afros, and lots of polyester prints. Actually, the kids on "That 70's show" pretty much nail the dress. Good luck and don't forget the blue eyeshadow and Farrah hair.

You might rent Saturday Night Fever for research purposes. You'll learn a few dance moves, too.

Watch the dance scene in the Starsky and Hutch movie, look at what the background people are wearing, that should give you some good ideas

I wore indian cotton shirts and puka shell necklaces with hip hugger wide bell jeans and clogs.

I did that too--we also embroidered all kinds of stuff on our jeans, and do you remember the "patches" you could buy and sew on your jeans?
I always did the 'hippie thing with jeans, t shirts, sky high platforms, etc. relieved by periods of trying to dress like David Bowie or Queen with the weird hair, shiny clothes, and so forth...ouch.
