But more often than not, I meet really nice and relatively normal people.
But people feel the need to tell me all their problems. I guess I come off as a good listener, who knows.
I must come off as one, too. And I've never lived in the South - I've always lived in rather large, anonymous cities.
You and I could probably trade stories, Rosie. I agree that the majority have been nice and normal, though.

I can attest to the fact that you are a good listener who also gives good advice. I know this because of all the times I've gone to you with my problems. Thanks for being there. It is appreciated!

Aw, LIl Bit, you make me blush.

Noreality, I bet we could trade stories. I have always said I'm going to write a book one day and call it "Flypaper for Freaks. Stories I've heard in doctor's waiting rooms" As that seems to be where I get the most people wanting to tell me stuff that I think: "I wouldn't tell anyone THAT"

And they also expect you to tell them your life story sometimes too. One time my husband was being admitted to the hospital for a routine procedure and we were waiting to register him. The lady sitting next to me started asking all these personal questions about why he was being admitted. At the time, (I was a lot younger then) I didn't know what to say. Now, I'd probably tell her that it was none of her business. Or better yet, tell her he had some horrible super contagious fatal disease that you can catch just by sitting within 5 feet of someone who has it!

MRD, I'm also quite beholden to you for your wonderful listening/advice capacity. A great big THANK YOU!

A thank you to everyone else, but MRD went above and beyond to let me know I wasn't crazy!

I would have said he was having a sex change operation. That would have shut her up.

Famita, you and Lil Bit are really making me blush. You've both been there for me as well. I'm happy I could be there for you. That's what friends do. Even online ones that have never met. I wish we could all meet one day. That would be wonderful.

I know this is getting way off topic but I have to tell about the time a guy that I worked with took some time off work for a personal issue. He and I were really close so I knew the real reason he had taken his leave of absence. Everyone was so nosy and kept asking what was going on. I started telling people that he was off having male enhancement surgery because he had gotten an opportunity to make porn films. Most people just laughed and left it at that figuring that I wasn't going to tell them anything, but there were a couple who I know really wondered if it was the truth. Trevor still says he owes me one for that story.

Totally agree. Sometimes I feel, in fact, that they tell me too much of that stuff that they can't tell anyone else.

I always like listening because I might learn something that would help someone else down the line.

The only thing I learned is to not take Miralax if you haven't gone to the bathroom in 3 days as it causes your bowel to explode and don't punch your 3rd graders principal in the face in front of witnesses.

Other than that, I don't get anything that might help anyone else. I told you, I get the freaks that want to tell me completely weird and off the wall stuff.

Much like my drunk neighbor who has told me stuff about all the other neighbors, which is why he'll never hear anything personal from me to spread around the neighborhood.
