In Case of Emergency - - - ICE

    In case of emergency ICE

Paramedics will turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's
identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that they
are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. If you add an entry in the contacts
list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone no. of the
person that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can
them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly. It only
takes a few moments of your time to do.

Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately. ICE your
    cell phone NOW

    THANKS for this wonderful idea!!

I keep my cell phone restricted in every way so that only I can use it: only I access my phone book, make calls, and access all the other fancy features.

That way if I lose the phone (it's been known to happen) the phone is useless to whoever finds it. I can call the phone and offer the finder a reward for returning it, but when I get it back I don't have to worry about all my minutes being used, or my phone book entries being deleted, etc., etc., etc.

I won't unlock my phone but I may just make the "ICE plus phone number" my BANNER on the phone (visible on the screen whenever I flip it open), given that we live in a world where anything could happen.

They won't know the ICE person's name, but I figure they can find out their name when they make the call.

If they know what ICE means then they'll know exactly what that number means.

THANKS AGAIN for the great idea!!

I got that in an e-mail a couple of weeks ago, and I've already put it in the phone book on my cell.

It's supposed to be working well in another country. I think I read Australia, maybe?

Anyway, I put it on mine as soon as I heard about the campaign. When my father died in a car accident, he was ejected from his vehicle and all of his possessions were scattered. His wallet wasn't immediately located and it took six hours before we were notified of his death. His cellphone was found immediately, but this wasn't standard procedure at that time. It really is a good idea.

    oh Star - how tragic

I heard about this and it's being well-received by paramedics nationwide.

Pretty simple idea that can be SO helpful. As a diabetic, this is great for me in case of a sugar drop.

There are some drawbacks to this, and some advantages. I suggest everyone who's interested in this check out Snopes first.

I've had it in my phone ever since I've had one. It's under "Emergency Info"
