80's Retro Candy...A Sugarfilled Walk Down Memory Lane

I am pming a fellow FORTER and what he wrote, reminded me of "Lick M Aid" or "Fun Dip".

    Remember that?

Isn't it funny how you can remember your whole childhood when you think of something like that?

For you, who love the 80's, check out this website...It is the A-Z guide of candy and food from the 80's. Its really jogged my memory.

I'm going to go back to candy of the 60's. Maybe they still exist somewhere, but some of my favorites were large flat taffy, penny candy we'd get at the Candy Counter every Sunday after church, and large lollipops the size of a hairbrush. They came in grape and cherry with fruit-sized bumps on one side and every 10 or so had a winning ticket for a free one. Back then candy flavors only came in grape, cherry, orange, and lemon. There was no blue food or tropical flavors.

I'm with ya on the 60's candy Gut, we had those candy necklaces, the large flat taffy, Pixie Stix, those long papers with the little bumps of candy you would eat off the paper. The best thing was you could actually get candy for a penny and a Snickers bar cost a nickel.

Thats ok. I should have written the title of the thread better.

And I remember the candy necklaces, etc. It makes me miss my childhood.

Candy necklaces are alive and well - so much so that the overly serious drug officer includes them in his annual lecture to our staff about things that could be drug related in school. Apparently certain drugs can be pressed to look like the candy and included on the necklace so the student can replenish their high at intervals during the day. Ok, whatever.

That is amazing Gut about the drugs.... what will they think of next?

Here's my favorite candy I remember from the 70's:

    Chick-o-stick
the wax tubes filled with flavored juices
    Willy Wonka's Gobstoppers
    Bottlecaps
    Astro Pops

Igotalife - oh! The memory you just brought back for me! I left an open bag of those liquid filled wax bottles on the dashboard of my car one summer day. You never saw such a mess!
