Ever use the campfire? I love it, but inevitably, it starts a fire. Of course, my Sims are always so STUPID and can't stop running around freaking out rather than going to the phone like I command them to. Morons.

Obviously I have boring parties.
The trick to get a GOOD party is by buying a birthday cake, the ones that have a "dancer" inside. If you do it about 10-20 times the party will be popular and even drew carey will come!

Where do you get the fire alarm? I tried to get one after my Sim's little incident with the stove, but I couldn't find one.

I couldn't stop laughing the first time that happened. The Sims website has some good houses and buildings to download, love em!

It is a circular smoke detector under electronics. I put one above the BBQ, Stove, and any fireplaces.

This thread is a hoot. One of my nephews had Sims years ago, and I remember he was showing it to me. Suddenly while the man was cooking in the kitchen, a fire started, and he ran around in a panic like you all are talking about. Somehow the baby/child caught on fire and died. At some point, a burial site was outside the back door, and the couple would go out there and grieve. This was me -------> , but he seemed to take it in stride. I remember thinking, "this is fun?!?" I would much rather have seen Drew Carey come to a party, or even a mine.

Yeah, I've never had a Drew Carey party, that sounds like it'd be a hoot -- just like this thread is!

I think I'll go see how me simmies are doing after I read the new posts here, have a summer cookout for the neighbors If you guys see smoke coming from my direction, please send your simmie firemen over?

I had for the SIMS the pet expansion pack and for one house of my SIMS I purchased them a bird. They never fed the bird but the maid usually did. Well the maid started slacking on her duties and the bird died. The SIMS in my house would not stop grieving for the dead bird, they would constantly go to the cage and grieve. I eventually had to delete the cage and everything from the house so they could move on.
Reading this thread really makes me want to reinstall my SIMS game onto my computer to play a little.
ETA: I have had Drew Carey show up for parties, like someone else said make sure you get the cake with the dancing people in them, I usually put about 5-6 of them around. I have also had the mime show up for parties and he is so disturbing.

Good to know I'm not the only one with boring parties, Yardgnome. (Always loved that screenname, by the way)

For those of you with both versions, which do you prefer? I like Sims 2 for the amount of things that you can do, but I do have a soft spot for the original. I do like that you can personalize their look a bit more, but some of the options make them look down right UGLY.

Also, about the constant grieving for the dead bird.

I have all the expansion packs for the first Sims except 'Making Magic.' Do those of you who have Sims 2 think it is worth the $50?

One thing I don't like about the sims is how often it lags. If you have a big house with lots of stuff and 8 people it takes forever to move from one side of the house to another.

I have quite a tangled love affair which started with two people with two kids, the woman starting cheating on her husband, the new man moved in and they had one kid. The new man obviously got in fights with the old man quite often. The new man began cheating with another woman who eventually moved in. That woman started cheating but this time with another woman. She moved it and they now live as one disfunctional family.

I have also done a Sim version of Big Brother, where at the end of every day I see who the most hated houseguest is, and kill them. Pleasent, I know.
