Ah, Hugh Grant... he'd be fun.

Obviously I'd love to meet any FORT poster, so you're all included in a big party one.

    My top 5.
1 - Jesus (I know everyone has included Him, but wow.. so many questions)
2 - My dad, who was killed tragically when I was 12. Actually, that would ideally be more private so I could actually spend time with him
    3- Prince Charles
    4- Madonna
5- Heath Ledger (again, that might be better private)
If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker.
It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance.

I brought this thread back because I was curious how others would answer this.

I thought about including my Dad (who was also tragically killed), too but then I had the same thoughts. I wouldn't care to have anyone else there except more family. So, I will keep this lighter

I think I would have an author round table first. I have an eclectic taste in literature but I wouldn't necessarily want to meet all of the authors I enjoy. Here are some I think would be fun

    J.R.R. Tolkien
Douglas Adams (who would probably horrify J.R.R)
    James Herriot
C.S. Lewis (here's someone who could be cerebral with J.R.R.)
Lewis Grizzard or Stephen King as the lone American among the Brits

    dinner?

1.) Tom Cruise, but my mouth would be hanging open so much, I`m not sure how much dinner I`d eat. But the champaign would probably be going fast.

2.) Rufus, An interesting and very funny person, I`ve met on the computer???? This one is probably my first choice, since she`s from Canada, it might never happen. I`ll first need to get me some snowshoes....

3.) Laura Bush: She seems like a "real", and very pleasant person to talk too. Plus her and George W. give me Christmas cards every year, so they`re practically family. And I`d probably take her to a comedy club or a spa or something, to loosen her up a bit. Keep her out all night.............

Must comment on Alton Brown! Fantabulous host of Good Eats! Great choice! (And Richard Jeni......I own two of his tapes....)

I had a hard time thinking of people I'd want to meet, versus people that would make for great dinner conversation. But the below is kind of both.

Great dinner conversation for sure (alive people):
    Hugh Grant
    Emma Thompson
(together on Oprah, they were BEYOND hilarious!! And Hugh is so freakin' funny. Anyone see him on the Actor's Studio? )
    J.K. Rowling
    Oprah
    Stephen King

Although if I picked all of the above, I'm almost sure I'd be mute and insecure, probably not able to add much except mumbles and apologies, perhaps clumsily knocking over someone's water glass to boot.

I've got more. Wayyy more. I'm coming back to this. It's so fun to read everyone's choices! (Zaius I'm glad you brought this back.)

Hey Shazzer! No awkwardness is allowed. These are fantasy dinners where we are all graceful and clever. If it's not, I'd do something imbecilic or clumsy for sure :rolleyes

Okay, I've done author round table (well, I have a square table, but I digress...) so it's time for actors (actresses will come later)

    1. Gotta steal Hugh Grant after Shazzer and others are done. Hilarious!
    2. Russell Crowe (another very funny guy in interviews)
    3. Mel Gibson
    4. Viggo Mortenson
    5. Hugh Jackman

    This thread is awsome!

Okay, here's my criteria for Dinner at Nausicaa's. My guests have to be men. They have to be hot. They have to be single.

    So, in no particular order:

    1) Viggo Mortensen (virility, poetry, chin cleft)
    2) Gwendal Peizerat (French accent, hair, litheness)
    3) Adrien Brody (eyes, filmmaking, Tinseltown gossip)
    4) Pelle Almqvist (charisma, rawkin' out, energy)
    5) Marat Safin (Russian accent, intensity, athleticism)

...oh, and I'll be serving oysters and champagne.
