    From that link:

I once went through the ceremony after the owner had assured me that every reference to his boat’s old name had been purged from her. A couple of weeks later, he discovered he had missed a faded name on her floating key chain. I advised him to start over, perhaps with a little extra libation for the ruler of the sea. Unfortunately, he declined. Since then, his boat has been struck by lightning, had its engine ruined by the ingress of the sea, been damaged by collision and finally sunk! It pays to be thorough.
This reads like a warning from a chain letter. I guess it's better to err on the safe side.

BTW John I forgot to add that you must forward a copy of the ceremony to 10 people within 10 minutes of the end of the ceremony, one of those people being Bill Gates.

If not, Poseidon sink your boat and ensure that you will never find true love, either.

    *bump*

I decided John couldn't be the only one with a Jimmy Buffet lifestyle.

My boyfriend and I took a big step together and bought a boat yesterday and I'm way excited. How's that for a *backwards committment*?

It's a 34' Hunter sailboat, sleeps 7 and has all the conveniences like a galley, shower/toilet. We both love the water and we've spent a lot of time on his smaller boat this past year, but this one will allow us to go on some actual excursions offshore. Woo hoo!

Congratualtions! Party's on with Igotalife! On the Boat!

"Boat?, Water?.....Fish! *Miss Kitty grabs knife, fork and bib...C'mon Garfield, let's go sailing! I hear there's room for 7: you, Mona, Joey, me, Gracie, Mr. Tootles and Igotalife. I guess that BF just has to stay on land. *

Igotalife I wish you and your BF many happy and great times on your new boat! Does she have a name? Best you follow the rules that John did previously

I wish I had a boat...... but it's difficult to sail here on the lone prairie. Too many cows to bump into.

*stands on the dock waving goodbye on your inaugural run, singing*

    Some sails are happy ones,
    Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the sail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

    Happy sails to you,
    Until we meet again.
    Happy sails to you,
    Keep smilin' until then.

Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.

    Happy sails to you,
    Til we meet again.

Congratulations, Igota! One of the best summers I ever had was spent almost entirely on a boat. That makes me nostaligic. I'll crank up some Jimmy.

Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You’ve seen it all, you’ve seen it all

Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of ’em dream, most of ’em dream

Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don’t thunder, there’s nothin’ to plunder
I’m an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I’ve done a bit of smugglin’, I’ve run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy miami, but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin’, got to go fishin’
    Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

    (instrumental)

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
Though I ran ’em away, they’d come back one day
    Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I’ve found
My occupational hazard being my occupation’s just not around
I feel like I’ve drowned, gonna head uptown

Thanks Misskitty, STargazer and Pom...her name is "Evenstar" which we want to change as soon as we can, however upon looking up what Evenstar means, apparently its a reference from the Lord of the Rings. "The Evenstar, the beautiful pendant that the immortal Elf, Arwen, gives to Aragorn, the mortal man she loves, as a parting gift, "..like my heart..."" So, that's kind of cool I guess.
