    **BUMP**

Does anyone have any advice about care of hot tubs? We just bought a new house that has one, and I have never looked after one. Of course, I will use "the google" but if anyone has some tips or any advice at all, I would love to hear it! Thanks, and if this stupid weather keeps up I think it may be my new favourite place to hang out.

    Re: Home Remedies

We were discussing allergies at the museum yesterday and the subject of neti pots came up.
There is this one volunteer there that is so strange. She is probably in her mid-50's and her views are really out there and she is not hesitant to share them.

Anyway, HER opinion on the neti pots is that she doesn't think people are using salt water in them, but cocaine.
Well THAT pretty much stopped the conversation in its tracks. And she KEPT insisting this was true. Finally the director of education tried to change the subject and she kept bringing it back to cocaine in neti pots.

I swear people can be so ignorant at times.
But what finally shut her up was that the education director said: I highly doubt that people that do cocaine would WASTE it by putting it in water that runs back OUT of your nose.
I thought I would fall over.
But I have heard much discussion on the merits of neti pots and I have NEVER heard THAT before.
I swear I wish I had more guts to say: shut your mouth, your ignorance is showing.

Anyway, my sinues have been bothering me immensely this spring and I finally broke down and got the neti pot. Oh my, what a difference. I SWEAR by it now. (and I use salt water in it. )

Oh, come on, MRD, tell us what you're REALLY using in the neti pot! (I know you all have been talking about them, but I've never seen one, so pardon my ignorance.)

I am amazed at how well they do work with ONLY salt water.

    Welcome to Club Neti, MRD!
I can't believe your education director said that! .
Maybe she would like a date with our resident knowitall at work who the other day was talking about hunting to someone and somehow got on the subject of buzzards (turkey vultures) Einstein says, "you know they have no a$$holes, they just vomit everything" . Dude was serious! Should I try to hook your friend up?
I have found the Truth and it doesn't make sense.

It was a volunteer that said it. the education director is the one who set her straight. The volunteer is already married. I'd LOVE to meet her husband because this is not the first crazy thing she's said. She told me a few weeks ago she was going to ask the museum to pay her for doing what she does and she thinks she's worth $15 an hour!!!! I happen to know what our current budget is like so I just said: "good luck with that". I highly doubt that there are very many museums that actually pay docents. Maybe some of the really large ones, but there is no way our museum can afford to pay docents. And organizations like this rely on volunteers. We log our hours in because all that factors in when they apply for grant money. But the rocket scientist has no clue about all that.

OK, I have used the neti and it works really well. But I still have a runny nose later. I know its allergies. But the runny nose is driving me crazy.

The bags are biodegradable, so you can throw them on whole, or cut them into bits and still use them. Just don't put the ones with metal staples in the soil.

I've had a lot of luck using bee pollen capsules (the gel caps, not the pill form) for allergies. I generally take them from March until October every year, though I just realized that the incredibly heavy snow cover we have has kept my allergies at bay until...well, presumably until the stinking snow all disappears.
All I wanted was a 45, a stinking 45 - the record or the gun. I'd even settle for the damn malt liquor. - Al Bundy.

I've also heard to take a tablespoon of local honey a day helps eventually too. But it has to be local. Like within 40 miles of where you live so you are getting the benefit of what the bees have produced in your own area from area pollens.

Wow, that actually makes perfect sense. I've never hear that before but it really makes sense. Now off to find local honey!
    Yup, with donuts!!
