Marybeth...as an L&D nurse..my personal opinion is no, dont rent one. I think it can cause more worry than necessary. Because if you dont find the heartbeat you might freak out...and sometimes its just the position of the baby that just make it difficult to hear the heartbeat, but you wouldnt know that, so it might scare you. Just my 2 cents! I hope I made sense.

marybeth, I agree with Tallulah! Don't rent one. You will just be setting yourself up for worry. I can think of numerous occasions with each of my pregnancies when it took the Dr. several minutes to locate a heartbeat. A few times she had to do an ultrasound only to and things would be fine. my babies were always turned funny so maybe that had something to do with it. I know if I had rented one, I would probably have spent half of each night freaking out calling the Dr. if I didn't hear anything.

I hope all is going well!

Oh, I have two product recommendations:

    1. My little girl is so long and skinny. Every night, she slinks out of her pajamas and diaper (the newborn size is still too big for her). We will wake up to find her completely naked and peeing all over her bassinet. . It gets a bit chilly in our house at night and I was worried about her keeping warm since she can't seem to stay dressed or bundled. I went and bought one of the fleece Kiddopotamus sleeping bags that zips around the baby and velcros over the shoulders. It's so great! She stays dressed and warm at night. I can send a picture if anyone wants to see what it is.

    2. As many of you know, my daughter was in the hospital for 7 weeks. During that time I had to pump milk around the clock in order to take it to the hospital. Unfortunately, my milk supply diminished very quickly and I was pumping about 100 cc's less per day than she needed. It was incredibly stressfull because there was so little I could do for her and it was so important for me to at least be able to nourish her with my milk. I would try so hard but pump mere drops of milk. Week after week, day after day, I was pumping every two hours including during the night and my milk supply wouldn't increase at all. Once of the nurses in the NICU recommended a product that she used when her child was in the hospital and it worked! Within 3 days, my milk supply was up and I was pumping enough milk to get my daughter through the day. I've not had any problems since then. The product is called "Motherlove" More Milk Plus. It comes in drops or in capsules. I used the capsules. I purchased them at our local Whole Foods for about $24.00. The lactation specialist and Dr.'s said they were safe to take and I am so glad I did.

    Thanks!

Applesauce...I can picture Little lovebug squirming her way naked and peeing!!! Too cute. Duke was infamous for that. Then I bought some sleep sacks. Probably the same thing as you got. I love them!!! and it keeps him nice and warm. It great because you dont have to use blankets and worry about them pulling them over their face! Duke loved peeing in his bassinet!!! He still is a peeing machine!!!
Oh he just turn 5 months old!!!!! I cant believe it!!! He's soo feisty...he never wants to take naps!!!!

Hi everyone! This is my first official announcement, I just found out I am pregnant! My husband and I are so excited, though we are quite nervous as well. It will be our first, and although we were planning on waiting another year, we couldn't be more happy about our little surprise. I actually didn't believe it at first, having never seen a positive test. I took three before calling my doctor to schedule a test there, unnecessary I know, but I was in shock! So there it is, the first time I have said it out loud, just a little practice for when we tell our family!
