My sympathies, BlondieGirl, and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Glad you're feeling better. I love your sig line, btw...I hope I can remember the sentiment when I need it. Take care.

Thanks AJane.
I am glad I am feeling better too and I know that eventually I will heal completely. Someday soon, I hope I will be able to join the Oasis thread!
I found that sig line to be so helpful! I hope you will never have to use it!

I haven't been on in a week, so I just saw your post, Blondie. I am so sorry for your loss. You have been in my prayers and will continue to be.![]()
Hi everyone...
I am a longtime fort lurker, and decided to register tonight to add my two cents to this roller-coaster of emotions thread.
Blondie -- my heart goes out to you, and I am glad to see that your spirits are starting to lift. Ice cream is definitely a beautiful thing --- all the women in this thread know that well!!
If / when the time comes that you are ready to try again, ask your doctor about the drug Glucophage. I also have polycystic ovaries (PCOS) and took years to get pregnant. (Am now at week 13 and starting to breathe a little easier.....incredibly excited, but still incredibly scared of miscarrying).
Anyway, I'm not a doctor or anything, so don't take this as official medical advice. But here's what I learned from my fertility specialist and genetic counselor:
- Glucophage is a diabetes medication that has proven very effective in treating infertility in women w/ PCOS.
- There is some controversy about continuing Glucophage while pregnant.
- The con is that it hasn't been done for long enough to test for long-term bad effects --- although in the few years that it has been done, there have been no bad effects.
- The pro is that studies indicate that it can severely reduce chance of miscarriage in women w/ PCOS --- check out these stats from one study:
oops -- sorry for the mid-post cutoff....as I said, this is my first time!!
Anyway, that one study had these stats:
19 women w/ pcos took glucophage during their first trimester, and 2 miscarried.
22 women w/ pcos did NOT take glucophage during their first trimester and 16 miscarried.
Those are some pretty staggering stats. Blondie, based on your history as described in your posts, it might be worth looking into.
Best of luck to all the mommies, future mommies, and hope-to-soon-be mommies on this thread!
