Thanks Blondie, Stephanie, and rose. It means a lot to me to know I can count on you guys. It is frustrating, but I know once I get pregnant it will be so worth it. I just feel like a big failure right now. I have to get past that.

rose, I do not know the success rate yet. But I do plan on asking him as soon as I get in the office I don't pull any punches. I know my OBGYN would only send me to someone he trusts, so that puts me at ease a little.

Aww, combat, you are not a failure. You are a bright, kind and generous person who seems to have a good life. Not being able to have children does not make you a failure, just like have them doesn't automatically make you successful. Take advantage of offers to talk by the kind people on FORT, particularly those who have lived through what you are living. I'm sure they have great advice and lots of patience, much more than some "friends" who think that if you really wanted children you'd have them.

    Re: Is anyone pregnant?

CC, true success is measured in how a child is parented, not in how he/she is conceived.

I became pregnant very easily with my first child, but the second took a little longer and I remember how frantic and upset I felt. I was positive I wouldn't be able to conceive again. I think the maternal desire, or whatever you want to call it, isn't always reasonable or logical - I mean, I already had one child, and I should have been content that I was fortunate enough to have the one. I can understand your use of the word "failure" - I thought I was letting down my husband, my older child, and even the rest of my family. And that was definitely not the case - so remember that the people who love you will support you and continue to love you regardless.

I really hope that this specialist will be able to help and give you some answers. Good luck.

    Re: Is anyone pregnant?

Thanks again everyone for being such great friends. It means a lot to me knowing I can come to any of you and you will be there for me.

AJane, I know what you are saying about not being a failure. I know I am not, but this is the only thing that I have not been able to conquer yet. I feel as though I am letting my hubby down. He tries to reassure me that I'm not and he would be perfectly content with it being just us, but I guess it's just a feeling I have.

Sorry to have brought this thread down.

Let's get back to those beautiful babies Closetnerd and Blondie have had. How are you guys feeling? How are the siblings liking the new baby?

    combatcutie,

You definately have not brought this thread down. Thats what this thread is for...for all the ups and downs we have along the way. We are glad to be here for you. I will never forget how supportive you and fellow FORTERS were when I had my miscarriage.

I am feeling good. Very fiesty. Krish hardly notices the new baby. I think he thinks she is a new toy!

Okay, so all along, I thought I just had a thyroid problem, well it turns out the my family doctor never told me it was Graves Disease. I wonder if I could link this to my fertility problems

    Re: Is anyone pregnant?

cc- I looked it up in Wikipedia. You should, too. After the initial explanation of the disease, it lists symptoms, and down toward the bottom of the list is this: Difficulty conceiving/infertility/recurrent miscarriage.

Don't get too upset before you have a chance to talk to your specialist. There are treatment options listed, about which I know nothing. Talk to the doctors, as I'm sure they have ways to overcome these side effects of this disease.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I'm sure you've already considered possible alternate options for having a child - adoption, surrogate, In Vitro... I understand these are not always the number one choice but I hope you keep all your doors open until you know what is best for your specific situation. All my prayers are going your way. Please keep us informed.
