also, they have rescue groups you can adopt them through, which will probably be the means through which i go.

I'm a huge animal lover, esp. dogs. I do prefer small ones though b/c I like to pick them up & carry them around (is that weird?). I have 2 dogs, one I can carry all around like he's my "baby" but my other dog is too fat & she freaks out when I pick her up anyway and my cat ~ forget it! He immediately sticks his back claws out if I even THINK about picking him up. He can be a sweetheart sometimes, but most of the time he just is very anti-social.
My mom has a big dog ~ he's a mutt mix of shar-pei, german shepard & pit bull. He's the smartest, coolest dog! I just love him to pieces. He's mom's baby & he will jump up on her lap. It's so funny b/c he weighs like 50 lbs & is definitely not a lap dog!

    Easily

I like big dogs, golden retriever size or bigger and preferably with long coats.

I just don't like small, "below the knee" kind of dogs.

Have to give props to the guy on the left for the package though

holly, i just like lap dogs. when i'm on the couch, i want the dog on me so i can pet her. big dogs aren't so conducive to that as they cut off circulation.

my mom has a cool big dog, too. he's an australian shepard/blue heeler mix. awesome, smart dog.

i have a cat, too. she is quite like a dog, actually... but i just can't attach to a cat.

I know what you mean about the cat. They just aren't the same as a dog. They don't greet you when you get home, they don't show "emotion" in general. I've had my cat before I had either of my dogs, but I feel much more attached to the dogs.

    fluff, you crack me up!

okay, i'm a sucker for a small dog.

i like them little. i had cocker spaniels and brittany spaniels before, and i am now looking for a little, sturdy dog that i don't have to take in to be groomed. that means a short coat. also, the short coat has to be soft. i have so many pre-requisites for a dog.

i would love to have another cocker spaniel, but i have bad luck with that breed and it's time to try another.

if i end up in the country someday, i want a big wraparound porch and a bloodhound to sleep on it. now that's a bigger dog, but the coat is still close cropped.

i also love siberian huskies, if it's any consolation, but i can't put them through the texas summers with all that fur.

Dogs are cool - I have always been in love with Weimerainer's.

But what I really want is a house of my own and to live ALONE - no kids!!!!!!
