My New Year's resolutions that I started already and seem to be working!!!

    1. remember that it is 'ok' to say 'no'. If you don't want to do something, don't do it.

    2. Try and verbilize your feelings, starting with 'I'. Even if it is something someone doesn't want to hear, they appreciate the truth. It is better than my other habit of running away from difficult situations.
ONG Beerbelly. Can I use your resolutions? They are great!!

    Re: New Year's Resolutions

I resolve to eat more fruits and vegetables this year. I find when I eat the nutritious good stuff, I'm less likely to crave the "bad" stuff.

Does anyone remember the resolutions they made last year? I actually managed to keep one of mine, which is pretty amazing for me. I resolved to drink more water, and I do, I drinks gallsons (or it just seems like it). And I almost like it now.

    Re: New Year's Resolutions

I'm surprised no one has been posting many resolutions yet. I made a resolution this year that I'm going to stop reading as much news as I have in the past. I just depress myself. I'm going to start checking in on the world news and the politics page, and the local news every once in awhile, but that's it. I'm tired of reading about people shooting their families or wildfires taking out neighborhoods or what bad shape the planet is in. I'm taking a year off.

I'm going to quit listening or reading news about the economy.

I feel the same way you do. I don't even watch the local news anymore.

I wish I could do the same; however, much of my work depends on my being conversant in current events, politics, the economy, etc. with my European ESL clients. Oh well! (Schlitz, given that I still have work, I have nothing to complain about!!! Qwitcherbitchin, Ellen! )

    Re: New Year's Resolutions

I watch national news quite a bit and I watch a lot of political news. However, I've quit watching the local news.
That song "Dirty Laundry" comes to mind about the "bubble headed bleach blonde with the gleam in her eye" when the local news reports tragedy and only tragedy.

I have to stay current on most everything else, but the economic news is so depressing that I find I'm having a real problem after I watch it. So I have vowed to watch as little of the economic news as possible while still staying currrent on the national news especially politics.

    Re: New Year's Resolutions

A couple of months ago, I started walking at least 2 miles a day and eating healthier. I've lost 15 pounds so far and feel SO much better.

I've also begun trying to give positive encouragement and feedback to everyone I come in contact with: the cashiers at the grocery store, the folks who take care of me at the restaurant, etc. Hopefully, a "how are you", a big smile and a "thanks so much" will go a long way in making their day better.

My resolution is to continue on, keep moving and getting healthy.

I hope everyone has a fabulous 2009 and much success with their resolutions and wishes!
