    Veterans/Remembrance Day

November 11th is Veterans Day here in the United States and Remembrance Day in Canada. Let's take time to honor all the veterans who have served in our countries Armed Services. To all of you that have served, I thank you.

November 11th is Remembrance Day in Australia too, and we've just observed a minute's silence at 11am. Thank you to those who have served our country and have kept it safe.

The 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month
Today is Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day, in many parts of the globe. It is, of course, the anniversary of the end of World War I.

In November 1997, then Australian Governor-General Sir William Deane formally proclaimed November 11 Remembrance Day and urged all Australians to observe one minute’s silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year to remember those who died or suffered for Australia’s cause in all wars and armed conflicts.

While Remembrance Day is thus observed in Australia, the better-known "remembrance" day in Australia (and New Zealand) is actually Anzac Day on April 25 each year.

Thank you to the members of the armed forces, past and present.

I was proud and honored to shake the hand of the veteran who pinned a poppy on my collar.

God bless all the veterans, and all the future veterans. I humbly thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I'm proud to wear a poppy.

It's Rememberance Sunday in Britain too. I always watch the TV cenotaph service from London and it brings a tear to my eye. I've had family serve in Iraq recently, which brings it much closer to home than ever.
The children in school have been making poppies from 4 hearts. Great idea!
