    Re: Comfort Food

I had the best dinner last night. My mom made a crockpot full of ham and bean soup. When I got home from school yesterday afternoon, my house smells SO yummy!

My mom always drinks with a straw. I have no idea why. I only drink with straws if we're out at restaraunts, or have from a fast food place. My mom even puts a straw in those thermous sippy cup things they sell at Starbucks.

We have a salt mill and pepper mill in my house. I always add atleast one crank of salt and 3 cranks of pepper to my meals as I cook them. Also, an advisor told us at school that if you're on a job interview that is held at say, a restaraunt, and if you salt your food before you taste it, the people are less likely to hire you.

I found another few comfort foods! Noodle Roni, the parmesean cheese and herb angelhair pasta flavored one. And velveta mac and cheese. That is especially good if you add frozen veggies (carrots/brocolli/cauliflower mix) to the noodles when the boil, and slice up some sausage linked (cooked) and mix them all together with the cheese sauce.

And, honestly... nothing is better than cherry chip cupcakes. Yum!

My dentist tells me that drinking soft drinks through a straw is healthier for teeth and gums

Drinking through a straw keeps the staining to a minimum. Many people who pay alot of money for whitening or new teeth drink through straws at restaurants near my work. I laugh when I see women trying to drink their hot coffee like that but it makes sense.

Cherry chip cupcakes? Do post the recipe on the recipe thread. I used to buy the cherry cake mix but can't find it anymore. It was one of my favorites.

I used to buy this wonderful Stouffer's frozen chicken casserole and haven't been able to find it anywhere for months. It was one of my comfort dishes.

I think I have re-created it tonight, using leftover chicken, cream of chicken soup, mixed veggies and pasta (and a few other additions). It looks like it and it tastes even better than what I remembered the frozen one tasting like.

Speaking of sweets. Cherry chip cupcakes are great, but so is red velvet cake. Red velvet cake with creamcheese frosting. WOW!! Love it. Of course we can't buy the mix here in Canada, so whenever anyone goes to the States, they stock up for us!

Otherwise, cheesecake's a comfort food even though I haven't had any recently save a homemade style on New Years. Grandma makes a light cheesecake with crumb bottom, cheesecake/whipped cream, caramel pudding, topped with whipped cream. So good.

Now I miss home! But it's better for my figure to not be home .

They are chocolate covered cakes with a creamy filling. They look like hockey pucks in shape and are covered in foil.
