I like to split a hotdog and put it in a fry pan to cook. Makes a great breakfast with scrambled eggs. Or a sandwich on regular toast.

Biscuits and gravy, heaven. I just saw a year in retrospective and I didn't know that Bob Evans, the sausage king and restaurant chain person died in 2007. LOVE Bob evans sausage and bisquits.

Those are fightin' words as Bob Evans is our competition. Tennessee Pride is my choice of breakfast meats. That's what I grew up with.
I personally think Bob Evans' biscuits and gravy are nasty and don't hold a light to what my restaurant sells. I think Bob Evans is way over priced. I always ate at the company I work for now way before I started working for them so it's not just company loyalty.

But your restaurant is too far away from me.

I grew up eating Jimmy Dean sausage. We used to eat at Bob Evans because it was convenient. I don't think I've even seen one since moving to SC. But in Florida, they were not far from us. And I did like their breakfasts, but the rest of the food was only so-so and you're right, over priced. I admit to really loving their sausage gravy though. I hate Cracker Barrels sausage gravy and most others I've eaten. I don't know how people can mess up sausage gravy, but I've eaten enough of bad ones to know when its yucky. But apparantly not the bad old Bob Evans kind.

I prefer my own sausage gravy and biscuits, but don't always want to cook them.

Unk if your restaurant a chain and if so what is the name and are there any in SC?

I'm in need of the comfort of some mashed potatos today or possibly soup.
And am now thinking sausage gravy.

Newf, you may have competition for your smart alectness.

Interestingly enough Newf, my dad got his love of SOS from being in the Navy. But he ate some weird things too. Like sweetened condensed milk straight out of the can with a spoon. YUCK.

We were discussing last night home remedies and I can remember that when we were sick, my grandmother made this concoction of honey, lemon juice and bourbon. It was definetly a "comfort" drink. Of course you felt better after getting it. The bourbon did that.

I don't know if this belongs in the "comfort food" thread ( although it always made us feel better), but have you heard of drinking strong peppermint tea for a tummy ache, or other digestion ailments? It really does seem to work, even on tummy aches.

Yes, and I have done it before. Also I find that sucking on a peppermint candy helps me.

Hmm, wonder if that's why restaurants give mints after dinner?

My daughter became a fan of Chamomile tea very young, after reading the Peter Rabbit stories. His mom gives him Chamomile tea after he eats so many lettuces. She still drinks it to this day.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup for me too.

In addition, bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches with avocado.
