Mr. Sweetpea even gets to celebrate his birthday with Mickey Mouse! We're coming from BC so this is a much bigger trip for us than going to California. I can't wait!!
That's exciting! Even though we live in So Cal and have annual passes to Disneyland, Disney World is a whole different experience. It's just wonderful. Although I would advise you to start a walking program before to get some endurance because you'll be covering a lot of territory.

I've already warned Mr. S and the girls that we need to start logging the miles...and the most important thing going into our suitcases is comfortable shoes!!

If you are staying at a Disney hotel, then the nice thing is that you don't have to bust your butt walking all day. Go in the morning, head back to the hotel after lunch and swim, nap, hang by the pool, then go back later in the afteroon and evening to the park.

    Have fun!

If I were going during spring break, I'd be getting my endurance and stamina up. I can't imagine the crowds and lines!

Great news sweetpea! Disneyworld is indeed a special place regardless of your age. Although I will never forget taking my son at 5 yrs old, entering the gates being greeted by MiniMouse. I have a wonderful picture of her hugging him. This was a special trip, because my first trip there, I was expecting him, (28yrs ago) and I purchased the Micki/Mini Donald/Daffy duck figurines for my new expected baby.

As he got a little older and knew who they were, along with the figurines, entering that park, they came to life for him, he was overwhelmed!

I've been there middle of summer, fall, and March break, it doesn't seem to matter. If its busy you just go to something else until the line ups shrink. Besides, March break is a different week for everyone, so it might not matter.

Congrats everyone on the job front, hope it all works out for everyone!

Sweetpea, make sure you tell them at Disney that it's your husband's birthday. Earlier this month I was at Disney World with my parents, my sister and my BIL. BIL's birthday was around that time, so he got a button to wear the entire visit and all the cast members wished him a happy birthday wherever we went. Also, the whole table got free champagne at the Flying Fish restaurant on account of his birthday.

I loved having my birthday at DW. First off, it was the year it was free on you birthday. So I got in free, and I never was so wished Happy Birthday in my life. I even had 2 park employees sing to me while I waited in line. It was definitely a feel-good birthday.

It was quite an experience the first time I went! It was pretty spectacular.

    Have a great time!
Me, I can't stand Disney parks, nor those like them; however, I've recently read about a theme park I'd actually go to. It's in Germany:

    Re: Share your good news

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, we're not staying in a Disney hotel, but we are in a good neighbour hotel just outside of Downtown Disney. We are flying pretty much across north america to get there, so had to economize somehow! We will get a 7 day pass I think, so we can not feel rushed and feel like we can take our time and go back and just do the things we really want to do, with time for breaks etc. One of the best things we did with our girls in Disneyland last time we went was take along a mitt full of bright shiny pennies for the penny presses. The girls loved finding them tucked into all the corners of the parks, and loved picking out the design. For 51 cents apiece, it's a cheap souvenier!

As for the time of year, I have read that the week we're going in March isn't bad. This year spring break for a lot of districts occurs around Easter, which is in April this year. From what I've read (and it's a lot, it's overwhelming frankly) the weather is pretty good in March and the crowds are higher than January but not nearly as high as summer or Christmas.

I know a lot of people would rather spend their $$ anywhere BUT Disney, but I'm a huge kid at heart and I *heart* Mickey Mouse. We figured it's our last chance to go and be kids for a week while our girls still like us enough to hang around with us (before they become teenagers!)

    49 days!
