Hmmm....maybe all this explains why some days I hardly feel anything and other days I'm in pain from the hips down! And here I've been thinking it had something to do with what I'd been doing, eating, etc., but really I should have been correlating it with the barometer! Duh!

PM me, too! I've always wondered why weather affects old injuries.

Barometric pressure affects us and animals. How Does Barometric Pressure Affect the Human Body? | eHow.com

Also read this chilling excerpt from William Manchesters Death of A President about the weather the day after the assassination of President John F Kennedy just before the vigil at The White House: Dawn was unmemorable, which is unsurprising, because the moment of daybreak is imprecise anyhow. In the U.S. Naval observatory at Massachusetts and Thirty-fourth N.W. sunrise was recorded at 6:50am.... but meterologically Nov 23, 1963 was about to smother the Eastern seaboard. between dawn and dusk not a single ray of sunshine would be discernible to the trained scanners at the observatory at Dulles, or at Washington National. The overcast was solid, an unbroken blot.... An abrupt barometric drop from 29.76 to 29.44 - those were the early readings -induces an atavistic tension in people and animals. Farmers know the signs as well as sailors. With the charge of negative electricity that precedes the deluge barnyards become restless. Sheep bleat. Cattle low. It is a primitive warning; trouble is on the way.

Others probably know the science better. BUT...
We have fluid in our joints and bodies, etc. When the barometer drops it affects the fluid levels. I believe it causes the fluid to "expand". Not exactly sure.
But our joints act the way a barometer does. The pressure fluctuation in the atmosphere forces the fluid in the barometer up or down. Same way in our bodies.

My allergies often go into over-drive immediately before a significant change in the weather. According to my allergist, that's not a common reaction, but it's not unheard of either.

As soon as the change occurs, and the front moves through, the allergic reaction/sinus headache tends to abate just as abruptly as it occurred. That's what made me wonder if it was weather-related in the first place.

Yep that is the old barometric pressure at work. After all we are 90% water, right?

I've had many stupid surgeries, and I've not experienced any weather alerts. The only broken bone I've had is a toe when I was 10. Nothing, there. About a week ago, I did get a monster butt cramp (right side) that lasted for about 48 hours; for some reason, my thoughts went straight to possible aneurysm. While it affected my walking ability, the weather wasn't doing anything unusual. Now this week, after some really beautiful weather the bottom will fall out at the end of the week...to where it should be for this time of the year. I'm just thankful that I have no "Achy-Breakys"! The spasm went away just like it came.

    Re: Share your good news

I've had knee pain since I was 15. My doctor (specialist) said I would outgrow it. For the most part that is true, but over-exercise always exacerbates the pain tremendously. Some days though when I know I haven't over-used my knees and they'll be aching. I always wonder for a little why they are doing that until I figure it out. So far it's always been bad weather coming.

Is this also the same thing that occurs and the saying if the cows are sitting a storm is coming?

And since this is the good news thread, my good news is that my mother just came for a visit and we had a great time. I've been able to see my family more this year than any time since we moved out of state 15 years ago and it's (mostly!) been a blessing.
