I've spent my life as a girl scout picking up kindling and most of my adult life heating with wood, so I think I want to stick with that. I'm also considering a wood cook stove for the room that's added on that looks like it may have been a porch at one point. It has a second wood stove hook-up (the main one is in the living room). I used to actually cook in a wood cook stove when I was married. We didn't have a regular stove/oven.
When our electricity was out MrCoz had to cook on our wood stove. It's not acutally supposed to be a food stove, but it does heat up food quite well in an emergancy. I felt very Laura Ingalls Wilder in our pioneering! He grew up with a wood stove used for heating and so was quite used to it all. It's quite a useful skill. Since you'll have all that free wood available it will be great for you.

Saw the news about the loan in the other thread, that's fantastic news and I'm still praying for it all to go smoothly.

Thank you justCoz and everyone else who is continuing to support my house-buying energy. I still haven't actually had the offer accepted or the loan in place, but this little cottage already feels like home to me.
    Count your blessings!

Have a good time Unk! At least as good as Foggy seems to be having in that pic!

    Re: Share your good news

I finally jumped ship from the mortgage lender who didn't get back to me in over a week to a credit union who got me my pre-approval in 2 days! I'm putting the offer in today... finally! Hopefully things will move foreward quickly now and I'll be in my house by the end of summer.
    Count your blessings!
