I have good news: my mom is coming to visit for my birthday. She asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said I was a bit sad because I was in a new city and I didn't know anyone here to celebrate my birthday with and noone was coming to visit. She found out that she had a check coming from an insurance company for turning 60 without dying (a kind of life insurance). So she can afford to come and visit me. We will sightsee in New York together and then she flies back after a couple of days.

I'm looking forward to my moms cooking and the Danish candy that she'll bring from home.
