I found the Le Creuset 4.5 qt French Oven (Dutch oven) that my husband has been drooling over -- in his preferred color! -- for half price at Tuesday Morning today. He's going to be so-o-o-o-o-o happy on Christmas morning! There's no way I would have been able to afford it, even at the discount cooking store. This way, I came in right smack at my budget.

Yeah Queenb. Good for you. Remember, my husband is a phone call away for math help.

    Livin, that's great news.

Ellen, I never find deals like that at our Tues. Morning, but ours is a wreck. I hate going in that store. It's like they opened the doors and just threw everything in willy nilly.

The one near me used to look like that -- not that it would win any awards for attractive displays now. But, I think with all the competition from Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, and Burlington nearby, they've had to make much more of an effort to become and remain organized.

Wow, that is awesome, Ellen. I like the Tues. Morning that is located close to me. I got some really cute Christmas tissue paper there for .99 cents a package.

    Re: Share your good news

Well, this post isn't exactly good news but it's in reference to my earlier post about finally going on a real trip to Hawaii this spring break with my hubby and daughters. I told a good friend, who recently came back from two weeks in Maui. Her response was less than thrilled for me...more like horrified that I would go to Waikiki. She kept asking "why are you going there" and said I would "hate it." What a downer. This is a lovely woman, and a good friend, but they are a bit more affluent than we are, and regularly holiday in France, or boutique resorts in Mexico, or Maui. We can't affort a $10,000 vacation but were thrilled to be able to go anywhere warm and tropical, and I've never been to Hawaii so I am super excited. There must be some reason people to to Oahu, right?? I know it's a big city, but it can't be that bad. It's a dang site better than Canada in March, let me tell you!!!

I would love to go to any part of Hawaii, so if it makes you feel better I'm terribly jealous of you, sweetpea. Your friend sounds like one of those people who has let herself become jaded by her own good fortune.

Of course there's a reason people go to Oahu -- great weather, lots of stuff to do, and often good travel deals. Sure, Honolulu is a big city with a lot of the commercialism that goes with it, but that's only one part of the island. There's a variety of stuff to do -- just ask any of the locals to point you in the right direction. You will love the aloha spirit and great weather. Tell your friend to stick it.

Pay no attention to her. Some people make themselves feel better by putting down others or what others do. Or they are just showing off. Enjoy your vacation. It will be wonderful. Despite what your friend says.
I've never been to Hawaii either, so I'm jealous of you as well. But you will have a good time. Personally I think the good time thing is a state of mind. I've had grand vacations in a tent in the pouring rain with no running water or restroom. And I've had lousy vacations in nice hotels with all the amenities. In both instances, it was all who I was with and my state of mind.
    So enjoy.

ETA: same goes for holidays and there is someone in this house that is goign to have an attitude adjustment before tomorrow or ELSE!
